Yes it's true, I'm finally lost. I had an idea on mind lately and finally found the time to try it out, problem is, I'm in need of a program, or at least a name of one. Example;

Umm, lets say I have a few friends that have been using a program and want me to get it. Of course, like usual I check out a few security websites and see the rating if it's safe, but you can't always trust those right? So I want to do it myself. I would like a program that will 'monitor' either a single application or my entire system (both would be awesome as well.) So if something tries to access the net, it will tell me where it's trying to go. If a registry key is being changed, it will tell me which one and what it's changing to, ect ect. No idea if a program like this exists , but I'm sure it does somewhere.

If anyone has a name or a suggestion, that would be great, thanks. ^_^

Geek Superhero, if I remember correctly, covers every example you gave. There is also a business-esque version somewhere... Unfortunately, you gotta pay for it eventually... I mean, stuff that great is bound to have a pricetag...

Your Comodo firewall should be able to tell you when any program tries to connect to the internet. However, I don't think it keeps a log of it.

If you want something to monitor what is does to your reg then get regmon. Keeps a log of stuff (haven't used it in a while so I can't remember exactly what it does).

AAAANNNNDDDDDDD everyone should get a program called sandboxie if you haven't already. It stops chosen programs from accessing any part of you harddrive at all, ever. You can then get it to make the changes it would have made if you wern't running it sandboxed.

Possibly the best thing I've found in ages... everyone should have it... If you run your web brouser sandboxed you pretty much never get a messed around.

1 program to do it all...
Kaspersky Internet Security or KIS.

It will monitor - network connections, open ports, registry changes, loading dll's, injecting own dll into other
processes, launching other apps, launching IE. (The last 3 options (dll stuff) work only on XP)
Vista has the UAC crap and hasn't given vendors enough time to plug in controls which supercede them.

AND if you need to end a specific program, theres nothing that the good old console KILL function can't fix.

EDIT: Noticed my typo. Suprised no one else did...

Tried that and Wireshark, doesn't do what I want, thanks though. ^_^

I've tried it, doesn't do what I want, and I currently own Spybot and it only records harmful changes to the registry, not all of them.

Ha, nice name for a program. I liked the features it has, I'll check it, thanks.

Comodo only monitors connections to IPs, and not Domains (which is what I currently need). And unfortunetly doesn't have logs, thanks though. ^_^

Regmon? The name rings a bell, thanks. As for Sandboxie, I'll be getting that, should be perfect to see where files go and why.

Don't want to have to install another Security/AV program that will interfear with Avast, though I'll keep it in mind if I use it on a Virtual Machine. Thanks. ^_^

I believe that Outpost Firewall monitors incoming and outgoing connections, and keeps a log of them.

Don't take my word for it though...since I'm a computer retard!
