So I'm making an oil lamp-clock for my year project at school and I want to know which type of oil burns fastest. I can't find any info about the burning speed. I don't mean gasoline or any other fuel but oil like olive oil, sunflower oil etc.

The clock will look like this:

The oil is in that glass vessel and there's a wick on the middle part of the clock that connects with the oil and burns. The oil level gets lower and lower when the wick is burning. When the oil level reaches a digits (the ones on the side of the glass vessel) one after another you can see how much time has passed.

Are there anyone able to help me with my issue?

um cooking oil will not burn in a lamp. They have special oils you can get at hardware stores called lamp oil.

The cooking oil works but it burns very slow as I've already tested. Also I'll try looking for the lamp oil in the local hardware store.

But if it's for lamps then it burns slow.

Paraffin oil should work well.

look at calorific value of the oils; it will tell you how hot the oils burn. the hotter the temp, the faster the oil will burn.

also, that oil clock you have there, what century is it from? what oil did they use in that?

That lamp is from 18th century. Whale oil was used in it.
