Yeah, I've been advised a few times over the years to do exactly that, but I've never bothered to actually do it. The answering machine snags most of their calls, but I occasionally get some entertainment value out of 'em on the occasions when I wanna pick up their calls:crazy:
did your mum pay any contribution to the mortgage payments or receive money from the sale or leasing of the property? if not, then its really hard for them to foreclose on her.
Marburg, my man, sorry to hear about your problems. I really hope things work out.
Damn banks. TBH I feel sorry for the lowly person at the bank who was given your grandad's file, and now must spend their day chasing up an issue they know is inherently unfair... otherwise it's the unemployment line for them. Meanwhile the scumbags in upper management who make these policies, are safe in their tower sipping champagne and eating caviar.
Nope. My mom had zero involvement w/ her dad's R-mortgage on all fronts. After Forest Gumping my way through the papers some more, it's seems most likely that this is simply the banks way to claim the house like a dog guarding a bone.
My Grandparents both knew the house was gonna be history if he checked out first, so grandma's sayin' "yeah, let'em have it, I don't care." They knew what they were getting into & all that.
I don't think there's anything they're gonna do or can do to my mother, as there was no agreement made directly with her & no signatures on any papers. F#&% 'em.
I gotta give 'em credit on the chilling effect of their style, though. Someone comes knockin' unannounced & slaps a big 'ol thick manuscript lookin' pile of paper with the official state seal on the top & an introduction that says, "Greetings, you are being sued."
Come to find out though, the effect of that scare tactic doesn't last long & just pisses us all off now.
