The guns will be back on after scheduled maintenance in about half an hour ... BUT if it goes back to how
it was with the house militaries using '//' at any excuse, and talk of sanction reports in system chat, it will
go off again for a lot longer next time.
Nothing appearing in system has been any encouragement to new players to keep their chat to character
only ... They follow the experienced players, and if all they do is // all the time, what are they going to
think ?
Set an example please, and just inform politely in private ...
Thanks

I think this is exactly right. It is the example of the experienced (or at least experienced looking by virtue of their numbers and ship sizes) that set the example.
Simply doing all this in private solves the entire problem.
DOWN WITH //!
..I feel better now. Thanks for turning it back on.
Getting rid of all "//" is just silly. Sometimes people do not have the time to switch between so many different people via the chat window to private message them, when a single line in the system chat will do. Especially if they are in a fight.

90% of the '//' marked so called urgent messages (and I'm underestimating the number) not only aren't urgent at all, but are downright unnecessary and/or uncalled for. If you have something to say directed to a lot of people gather them in a group and do so.

there is absolutely nothing urgent enough to require a "//" sentence. if people are using it i would suggest ignoreing them if you don't have the time to PM them.
sure in a perfect world "//" or "OOC" would be fine in system chat if it were used on rare occasions. the sad truth is it's a contageous illness that once used has a high probability of spreading until it becomes an epidemic worthy of a total disinfecting by the Admins. So needless to say it's better to avoid it all together.
PM your out of character convos. it's not that difficult to find someone in the online list. if your too busy to look for them...it can wait.
In the middle of an unlawful RP event, a massive fleet of BHG Battlecruisers come in screaming "lulz" and "u gunna get pwned". The unlawfuls tell them to leave...
