Keep the Vista. No sense to downgrade it to XP, sinec the MS is pulling the plug on XP support. And we all know it's not finished even after these years. Otherwise there wouldn't be any updates for it.
nvidia 6 series came out in 2004, so it should run FL just fine:) Vista is an ok OS, see if you can make an image of your HD so you don't have to go through hell to reactive vista if somethng goes wrong. The athlon duelies seem fine to me, I run one of it's server cousins (opteron) and it handles vista great.
Cool, but does anybody know a free program I can use to image my HD as soon as I get my laptop (for vista). If anybody could give me a link or something that would be cool. Of course I can google it, but you never know which ones you can trust..
It stuffs it up. And HP does NOT support XP from their website. You need to go to all the manufactures sites and get the drivers from there. It took me all day.
To whoever says it runs FL perfectly? I can't get smooth frames in "High" I have to have it on medium low, and even then I still get lag. Its 256MB GDDR2 /6150.
Also, the 6150 uses DX10 for vista, and even though you can get the windows XP drivers for it. The operating system will not be able to control the display inverter properly. So when for example, the screen switches off to save power, when you try turn the screen back on, it will become all distorted, liney and fickery. Not good for the screen either. Vista is the only OS that can control the display inverter in my laptop properly.
Its AMD 1.8GHz processor is not enough. I'm very disappointed and don't know what all the hype was about around the new AMD X2 Dual Core Mobile processor...
So yea...

Thanks for the info, I probably should stay with Vista for sure then. Still need an imager though.. I'll look around for one after school. I'm hopeful that my laptop will be here today!
I'm posting from my laptop right now!!! IT's sooo freakin sweet!!!
Well I gotta go..
EDIT: Well, I have freelancer working nice already! No problems at all. I like Vista too. The guy forgot to put in the extra gig of ram though (or something along the lines of "forgot") so I emailed him and I'm awaiting a reply on what happened. Vista is running perfectly on 1 gig of ram though, I can't wait to see how fast it'll go on 2 gigs.
Well. Vista can run on 1GB when you practically do nothing else than surf, but the real demand is shown when you fire up one of the newer games out there.
