If you've read the few posts I made thus far, you will know my aversion to the concept of a published backstory. However, I am considering a running ships log or whatever. The way I figure it, I'll be able to draw out my story in an ongoing fashion, and drop hints about my backstory and such along the way. It seems like a decent way to solidify my in-game actions with an added layer of RP. I have seen the stuff in the RP hub, message dumps and stuff... but i'm wondering if there is any place specifically for posting things like an ongoing ships log?
Hmm... I'd call it a shlog for short, kinda like blog, but dang everytime i say that to myself I start laughing and forget what the heck I was tryin to say...
I kinda think someone will mention the watering hole or whatever its called. I'm sorry but that was the first place I ruled out for myself, since I don't see any good connection between pilots hangin out in a bar and tellin stories (perfectly fine for tellin war stories and braggin or whatever) and a personal recording device built into a ship.
Actually, since such devices are supposed to be personal logs, and not some kind of galaxy-wide beacon, I would only be posting when its acceptable to me as far as RP is concerned... which would be each time my ships hull panels seperate under extreme distress. I kinda figure that my black box would likely get picked up along with my escape pod, at which point I could wholely expect someone to decrypt it, upload it, and lay bare my inner thoughts for all the scruffy lookin nerfherders to laugh at.
Too bad my ship's log is setup with video capture disabled. I tend to fly a little skimpy...
Well anyway, I'm still tryin to figure out exactly what it is I'm gonna do around here, but I figure on bein much better prepared when my ship finally undocks again. So if anyone has a suggestion of a proper place for such posts, I'd appreciate it. The ideal situation is a place with only 100% RP (no stupid slashes either), and possibly a thread that only I post to, since theres no good reason for anyone to reply to a recording of something that happened in the recent past. But anyway I thought I'd ask, since the vast majority of the stuff I've read lately involves what you all call rule lawyering and such... and the atmosphere is gettin pretty thick...
I suggest "Character Biographies" or "Stories". Personally, I'd go with the former of the two since it's centered around your character. But either one should work.

I kinda skipped the character biography section thinkin that was the place to dump your backstory/excuse to have a ship/loadout. After lookin a little closer, there are actually a few people who are doing a message log thing so yup thats where I'm gonna put mine.

Was that really necessary? Be nice, we have few enough girls that <strike>don't wear too many clothes</strike> play discovery already, we don't want to scare them...
