I was speaking of rank in a more informal sense when mentioning the Minister of Defence, in the sense of a chain of command, civilian or military. The Minister of Defence theoretically would outrank the Fleet Admiral.

Yes, that seems about right. Callsigns 'Firebird' and 'Hyperwave' were, I believe, Admirals based from Planet Cambridge. With reforms and the like of the BAF's organisation, it seems that the Queen wanted to surreptitiously make use of her technical position on the Admiralty board, encouraging the Commodores directly under her to do something radical in current wars. She probably doesn't do much, but lends a respectability and seniority to the QCRF.

I recall hearing 'Firebird' and 'Hyperwave' were Fleet Admirals, at least in the SF dumps, actually.

Most likely. I don't believe that the Admiralty board is eleven folks with absolutely identical ranks. For example, the Queen will outrank the Fleet Admiral, who will outrank the Admirals, who will outrank Rear-Admirals.

I would take it to mean the Admiralty has 11 Admirals in it. There are probably an equal number of Vice Admirals and more Rear Admirals, and if the position is occupied, 1 Fleet Admiral. The lower ranks would just hold less voting power, like the Southern Liberty Navy High Command, with the Fleet Admiral presumably having veto power. The Queen herself could probably totally override the board as commander-in-chief, though she'd probably not want to interfere too much.

I imagine there'd be 2 Admirals (One taking seniority as Admiral of the Fleet), 2 Vice Admirals and 6 Rear-Admirals. There'd also be Her Majesty, outranking everyone.

This is pure speculation, however. Continuing, though, I imagine that the Vice-Admirals would be stationed on the battleships seeing the brunt of combat, such as the MacDuff and the Grimsby or Norfolk.

Most of this is from my own theories in the Military Organisation of Sirius thread, and my own belief that each Admiral has a battleship. But, your assumptions may vary. I wouldn't find it hard to believe if a Vice Admiral showed up commanding a battleship at the behest of his superior.

Historically, Vice-Admirals were known to be a part of the vanguard in attacks, or at the front of combat, leading the ships in direct contact with the enemy, so I imagine they'd be on battleships.

The Admirals, according to Unseelie, are one for each stationary battleship, and one for each populated planet. I'm not sure if the Harlow in the guard system counts.

I imagine the Queen gets New London, an Admiral to Leeds and one to Cambridge too. I'm not sure.

Wow. That's a lot of admirals.

And come to think of it, no, I haven't seen a BPS on in a few days, at least when I'm on.

Sir Michael Brown (BMM-Bristol(T)) - Bretonia Mining and Metals, Trader, Captain of the Bristol
Ensign John Thomas ([QCR]John.Thomas/[QCR]John_Thomas) - Queen Carina's Royal Fleet, Regular
Pilot Christopher "Chris" Armstrong (Armstrong) - Unioner pilot, Independant
Crewman Alexander Cooper (Bs|Alex.Cooper) - Order pilot, Black Squadron

I have seen one on in the last ...two weeks?

Maybe they're really good at these covert ops.
