How much bigger do you want to get than a whole planet? That's also not counting the trickle of Bretonian refugees, which will probably turn into a flood, heading towards Gran Canaria. Other than 3 and 49, heading any further into the Omegas will meet heavy resistance. Rheinland isn't in a position to even try - given that they're losing Dresden to the Hessians... that should speak for itself.
I see I still need to get back into the scale of Discovery's lore.
I honestly think Rheinland might as well willingly hand over its systems to the other houses, by the looks of it.
Anyhow, I was thinking about pretty much every house that still has the resources to do so (Liberty, Kusari, Bretonia (?)) to decide to launch a huge colonization wave into he edge worlds. Taking over the planets and stations from the Hispanics where necessary, thus popping some neatly over-sized battles, etc. You know. All the good stuff.

Half of Gallia and Sirius is now cut off from the rest of the systems and may be forever lost (you can pick up that story line / copypasta the genesis story line from Eve in future installments if you want to reunite the systems but for now I think it would be awesome if the game world was 2/3 or half the size it is now).
The storm nukes a whole bunch of stations as well, leaving some systems half empty and adding new anomalies / mining areas / wrecks (in short stuff to explore) to those same systems. It's now up to the remainder of humanity to pick up the pieces and re-populate and prosper. Direct wars between the houses are toned down as all are focused on re-building, but humans will be humans and instead the houses now battle over resources in the edge worlds / independent worlds / nomad worlds as well as in those systems that have been partially destroyed by the solar storm.
However this blow to humanity hasn't gone by unnoticed - the non-touchy/feely nomads (having their own system of jumpgates and not relying on bases and planets like humanity does) didn't get hit as hard by the cosmic storm of doom and now seize this moment to unleash the final blow...!!!!!
In other words create more of a sandbox with new things to explore, and player-driven system development (by using player-built stations) and a heavy focus on ore/minerals in the outer worlds and in those worlds that got wiped. Sort of a wild west / goldrush scenario with the underlying premise that it is all about saving humanity. And nommies would be reinstated as chief bad guys.
That would be a story line for an entirely new mod. But I like it.
Edit: I seem to have lost the ability to say smart things.
how about gallia remains part of the mod, but becomes a hive of nomad activity: a superjumpgate opens, and countless billions of morphs spawn in garlic space, decimating the civilian population and infesting horrendous amounts of the military (unless this has already happened, and is the *real* reason for gallic hostility). The uninfested military, seeing the atrocities commited under the tricolore, mark themselves down as AWOL and decamp en masse to the Gaians - the one group in the whole region that they've not managed to upset completely yet (pls correct if wrong here).
Effects
gallia remains the wasteland it already is, but with nomad citys and plenty of power cells to harvest.
gaians get some love, and the gaians allies/friendlies get to hear of the problem due to the massive refugee problem. Gaians, now suddenly rich in currency but strapped for food, medical supplies, etc, become the corsairs of the left side of the map, (and are forced to colonise gaia??? dunno....), and are forced to beg/borrow/steal what they need.
nom noms have spread to the left of the map, and in force. nomad encounters in taus are increasingly commonplace, forcing bret corps and unlawfuls to enter an uneasy truce to gang up on purple trolls
TLR gallic wilde take over gallia, creating mass exodus, and increased activity in taus/bretonia
Since we're all posting our ideas I may as well post my own crazy idea. Its really quite long though so you've been warned.

As the war in Bretonia continued Gallia seemed sure of victory, its vast resources fuelling their conquest. Back in Gallia itself however the resistance, comprised primarily of The Council and The Maquis continue their efforts to free the Gallic people. In particular, the Maquis steps up its efforts immensely as a result of secret funding from a force outside of Gallia itself. The rising acts of terrorism claim not only the lives of many royal navy and police forces but also cause numerous civilian casualties, both from corporations supporting the crown and would be sympathizers. These acts reach their peak with a well-executed and simultaneous strike on three jump gates, severing vital resources from their destinations, be that the Gallic fleet in the Taus or the general populace. At that stage the Council was awakened to the possibility that this could be it, their chance to free Gallia from its corrupt crown. Joining in the Maquis efforts, albeit in a much less reckless manner, the Council and its allies began to whittle down the defence left to contain them, slowly but surely putting an end to the iron grip of the Gallic Royal Navy. Defectors from both the navy and police bolstered their forces, the Council was moving closer and closer to victory.
However, this was not to be. The Maquis continued to kill, by this point almost indiscriminately. When they reached the stations owned by corporations previously supporting the crown they ignored surrender, tens of thousands dying as stations were either destroyed or massacred after capture by Maquis forces. Of the few stations the Council captured directly some outright refused to cooperate as a result of the chilling tales miscommunicated as the work of the resistance as a whole. The few attempts to dissuade the Maquis from its bloody path failed, the violence continuing. Meanwhile as the months go by, planets in the Gallic core worlds find themselves running out of resources. Chaos spreads quickly, inspired and propagated by agents of the Maquis and independent resistors. Famine and disease quickly become an issue and many millions of innocents die planet side. When the Council broke through to the core worlds the sight they were greeted with was horrifying, leaving their original goal utterly crippled. There was no longer a Gallia to save. New Paris was little better off than the other planets, the rioting only intensified by the supply of weapons to those on the ground by the Maquis forces. King Charles XI had disappeared, presumed to have been killed by an explosion at his palace or to have fled on the last Gallic battleship to have left New Paris about a month ago.
The Council were furious with the Maquis, calling them out as monsters and psychopaths with no regard for human life. The response called the Council traitors to the cause and weak for the previously slow progress that they now believed was purposefully intended by the Council for personal gain. It took the Council a week to formulate their next course of action. Gathering any and all ships they could, the Council set about transporting refugees from both the Gallic core and border systems, transporting them to newly discovered systems in the Tau’s. These systems were not much to go on but at least one planet was habitable and efforts were made to quickly establish themselves there along with the rapid construction of stations. Thankfully an ice field provided them with water and bio-domes established began to yield enough to hopefully secure a future for the remnants of the Gallic people.
Still furious with the Council, the Maquis set about sabotaging their efforts, believing them to be attempting a reformation of the previous Gallic rule. They primarily targeted Marne and Quillian, both having been mostly unaffected as a result of long term Council rule. These attacks were largely unsuccessful from space but leftover Maquis forces on the planet itself caused the deaths of many important members of the Council. The Gallic Brigands were split three ways once at this stage, some joined the Council and left with them to the Taus. Others joined the Maquis either to save themselves or as a result of true support for their cause. The remainder either pillaged the remnants of Gallia, trying to profit and survive or left completely, spreading out into Sirus, disappearing into other criminal groups that would take them. All the Gallic corporations had ceased to exist at this stage and the surviving workers absorbed into the Council or fled. The Unione Corse had kept out of the fighting for the most part, funding the Maquis until they discovered the horrifying truth. At that point they suffered a second split, joining the Council or the Maquis. Those that sided with the Council however maintained their autonomy and set up in the newly claimed Council space within the Taus. Their connections allowed them to become smugglers to the Council and other factions in the surrounding systems, thankfully doing more good than harm with their illicit activities.
With Gallia finally finished at its core the Council only felt it had one final task before it could lay the past to rest and focus on the future. Gallia itself must be lost forever, no one must discover the true horrors that occurred. On top of that the Maquis were too dangerous and, if possible needed to be sealed away with the rest of Gallia. They set about de-stabilizing the jump holes and destroying what was left of the jump gates, initially cutting the Maquis in half and weakening them significantly. However they were now well aware of the Council’s plans and active resistance slowed progress massively. The Council managed to completely cut off the core worlds and most of the border worlds too, leaving only Languedoc connected to the rest of Sirus. This system became the home of the Maquis, most of its resources sabotaged or used up to spite the Council while it fled. It is a dark shadow of its former glory as a bastion of freedom against the Gallic crown and now serves only as a staging ground for the Maquis and their vengeance.
Throughout the events at home the Gallic Navy continued its offensive against Bretonia, unable to do much else as a result of the Maquis destruction of the jump gates. Their previously outstanding offensive slowly weakened over time and while they were able to take Leeds completely at one point, incurring heavy losses for the Bretonian Armed Forces, they were simply unable to hold it. News slowly got back to them that no help would ever arrive from their home world again and they quickly faced reality. Kusari and Bretonia became aware of this, biding time until finally they hatched a plan. Using the resources they had managed to rebuild while the Gallic invasion force played it safe Kusari, the Kusari Exiles and Bretonia launched a joint offensive, the Kusari motivated into the tense alliance by the strong possibility of saving and retrieving Emperor Jien Kogen and enacting vengeance on Gallia. The offensive was a success, returning Leeds in its entirety to Bretonia and ensuring the complete safety of other Bretonian systems from Gallia. The Kusari managed to successfully reclaim the Taus on their side as the Battleship Nagasaki returned to Kusari, badly damaged from the intense combat with the now remnant Gallic forces.
The Gallic forces that did not die that day went into hiding; some who had heard of the Council’s flight from Gallia swallowed their pride and joined them while others disappeared completely. There were rumours of Gallic Naval Forces being capture in an attempt to reach the now cut off Ile-de-France system, tortured and killed by the savage forces of the Maquis.

There was another tiny paragraph afterwards about Bretonia and Kusari entering an uneasy peace but I decided I didn't know enough about the Kusari Exiles, Bretonia or Kusari. Most of the Gallic stuff is pulled from massive assumptions backed by base canon about the factions and one other faction that I did not name in the piece. That would be the financial backer the Maquis had which is not some non existant or made up faction. Either way, I hope you enjoy reading it and even though I know its never going anywhere I'd love some feedback or notes on whether I've made some massively out of place canonically inaccurate speculations.
Either way, the end of my idea would be as follows:
The straight up removal of most Gallic systems.
The Council becomes almost a new Gallia, living in no more than three new Tau systems.
The Maquis basically become a faction of raiders and terrorists hell bent on the destruction of the Council and remnant Gallic naval forces.
The Maquis base themselves in the ruined Languedoc which would have some new jump hole links.
The Unione Corse remain a quasi-lawful faction but gain smuggling ties exponentially.
The Gallic Brigands die out as an autonomous entity due to the lack of Gallia. Some may resort to assorted piracy in the Taus but I just couldn't see them remaining organised enough.
The Gallic Royal Navy cease to exist formally but I could see no harm in them banding together somewhere else and being their own thing.
Bretonia and Kusari are no longer being threatened by Gallia allowing them to either continue their war or enter an uneasy peace.
Emperor Jien Kogen returns to Kusari. Whatever that means for the Kusari people, navy or terroris factions occurs. I simply don't know enough to work out what exactly would occur though.

What do you mean by ''anti-Corsair triumvirate''? Also I do know that R-L war is nearly at end and RM is kida lost.
Idk where you heard that. Sairs/OCs war is less active both inRP and PvP.
Well, I more meant there is no real need to alter the storyline for Outcasts to start attacking Coronado. If they start "overtaking" Colonial territory (which is only the one system) then it doesn't leave us with an awful lot. If we were to lose our home for a third time it would probably time to call it quits.
Come on, you are part of it :p The triumverate is Mollys, SCRA and Hessians.
My point was that Rheinland is already losing significance to Liberty, without Corsairs being a part of any grand schemes (despite Silver/Alley's best intentions).

As I said elsewhere:

As a related note, Charles was going to invade Sirius without Harbinger's influence (and he still isn't actually infested), just that having the Nomads as a friend is useful, and he's been promised immortality or something. The intent to conquer everything plays exactly into Harbinger's schemes, the same plan as getting Rheinland to fight everything.
And to Drakens:
I definitely did enjoy the scenario, although the Maquis would need a lot of funding to be able to make a significant dent in the GRN forces in Gallia and then be able to ruin the entire nation and turn on the Council. From what I make of them, they aren't mindless killers; if they were winning they would probably see the benefit of letting the Council run the 'nice' parts of their gains and eventually defeat the GRN. I do like how you've thought of the resulting changes if it were to come around though.
I've had some Maquis plans for a while, if you are interested send me a PM and/or add me on Skype.
The Exiles stuff is fairly good too, I believe there is already a plan to bring the fleet back to start a civil war (although with Daichi Kogen since his elder brother Jien has died).
I'll hit you up on Skype. Glad you liked it and yeah, the whole thing hinged on what I knew was a massive assumption in the end. I just love writing for the games I enjoy playing. Given more information and direction I'd probably be able to come up with something much more accurate (?) or true to canon. Was fun though, nonetheless.
