Quote:By catering, babysitting and carebear type of gameplay your wont help the new players.

At the end of the day, it's all about creating a fun atmosphere for new players to stay and play it. There's nothing wrong or bad about helping folks get on their feet and feel some immersion into a system they are probably otherwise unfamiliar with.

I don't really see how I'd be doing them more of a service by sanction-lancing, or just flying up in a hostile vessel, pewing them to death, and then laughing about it afterwards and saying the rough equivalent of "quit whining and lean to pvp, newb!" While that kind of attitude may give some sense of accomplishment to the experienced vet, in reality, it's just being a prideful jackass.

That kind of attitude kept the server full, like it or not. There were things like healthy competition and sportsmanship that kept people interested and playing the game. Discovery unique feature was that the gamer was not able much to predict the possible ends of encounter or fight.
There are ton of more easy to play dumped down games that are with a way better graphics, so by dumping down the game in effort to make it more appealing to the new players got us empty server.

?, best thing you can do is to stay away from them and not posion them with baseless prejudices and most certainly welcome criticial thinking. In other words, either help them or sit in the corner and keep a mouth shut. Too many " no, this is the way to do it.. No you are doing it wrong" gimme a break

Were fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

So would an economy based around logic and rationale instead of pure mathematics and a half-decade-old excel formula.

Retired, permanently.
