Ze'ev Barak looked around his fine new ship. It was an Luxurey Linerdonated by a wealthy beneractor on Shinjuku. Ze'ev wondered how all this would turn out, he had been recruted by Master Masaharu Morimoto to act as the spokesperson for his orginazation the Artisan Farmers Alliance. This ship was to take him around the Sector, introducing himself and Morimoto's group to Sirius. As he walked up to the bridge, the officers stood at attention, a habit he would have to break them of, he thought. "At ease men," he told them. Ze'ev did not have a military background like many in his group, instead he had left Kusari for his University time, attending University's in Liberty and Rheindland before returnin to Kursari and being chosen for the Kusari Imperial Diplomacy and Intelligence school. That was were he was recruted by Hakita Toho, the recently elected Governer of Kyushu. Toho was a good man, the first Farmers Alliance canidate every to be elected to system wide office.. Toho had asked him to go and work with Master Morimoto, and that is what he would do. Barak walked over to the Helm control station. " Helm," he began, " Our first stop is to meet with the Black Dragon Sociaty, head for Kagoshima station in New Tokyo." Ze'ev then walked over to the comm station, leaning over the shoulder of the comm officer, he quitely said " send off a message to the BDS that we are on our way, and also send the message to Master Morimoto." With that he moved toward his quarters, saying as he left the bridge, "Let me know when we make the jump into New Tokyo."

"We have reached the jump whole Mr. Barak" came over the speaker. Ze'ev Barak was at the desk in his quarters, working on the itinerary for his mission. "Jump and proced to Kagoshima" he grumbled, then added " And hail the Black Dragons and let them know we are here, and are able to meet with their representiive whenever they wish." he then cut the speaker, he still had so much work to do. First here he was in New Tokyo, meeting with the Hogoshu, and then he was hoping to meet with the representitives of BSG in Tau 44, but he had still had no response from thier envoys. He was thinking about Bypassing the BSG for now and making the longest part of his trip first, Omicron Gamma, and the mighty TBH, this meeting would probably be the most important. He was hoping to set up a trade agreement with them, it could be very benifical to them both. He had never been that far out into the edge worlds, so this would be intresting whatever happened. He had made contact with Elder Costello of the TBH who had been very freindly so he was hopeing for the best. Yes, his next destination would be Planet Crete. It would take some time to get there, so he would be able to finish his itinerary on the way, "perfect" he thought. Hopefully the Black Dragons wouldn't keep him waiting too long, but he would wait as long as it took. "The Black Dragons, are going to be our most important freinds" he thought to himself, "they are right next door to us, both our home systems and main bases, are so close, we need them and hopefully they need us." He knew. He shook the thoguhts out of his head and went back to his opinging statments for the meeting, they had to be perfect.

Ze'ev had used his time wisely, he had drawn up a list of the factions he would try to meet with on his trip.
First would come the Black Dragons, then the TBH, the NLH and finally the BSG on the way back to Sago. He had recived a communique from master Morimoto, wishing him luck. It was time to send out the final messages to the factions he sought audiance with. He opened his comm panel....

As he closed the comm panel, he relized his work for the evening was done, and he had about three hours of time, lets say unassigned. so he decided to sleep for a while.

Takata Ran of the BDS sat bolt upright....

What!.....What? Leaping from his low slung sun drencher and springing to his feet, the young pilot grabbed his towel and his senses...

Someone pulling together a Coalition?... NLH...BDS.... TBH.......? It just might work. Pirates, Renegades and Environmental intellectuals?

"Could be a sweet mix", he reasoned, plenty going on and you've always got the power, diplomacy and sheer hard core mettle behind you to help you out of a tight spot. Plus you have a reasonable local geography...... and room to move in.......hmmmm

I wanna hear more!

....... He leaps into the shower , quickly goes thro' the motions.. you know what I mean.., grabs a couple of chocolate bars , a bottle of whisky, other provisions and some local cider as a promise for a friend, you know?. And Launches, still munchin' a gobfull of Rice Crispies..... Where we goin' then?

Tell me more please? Sounds like a cracking idea!

Taka

Sean was awakened by the signal of new messages. He worked hard this night, and rested on his desk for the night. As he read the message half in sleep, slowly gaining conciousness, he tried to compose a message:

Greetings Mr. Barak,

Your visit is highly appreciated by us, I will order to prepare your quarters for the night or two. I am sure we can agree on a friendly alliance. You will be awaited at Islay as soon as you can.

Best regards,
Sean Dawson

When Ze'ev Barak awoke, he noticed he had to messages awaiting him. He got up and walked over to the comm panel on his desk. " Hmm" he thought, a message from Takta Ran of the BDS, he opened that one first. The messege was intrsting, but he though this member of the Black Dragons had gotten the wrong idea, this was going to have to be sorted out.

Signal Origin: AFA Fallowed Ground
Signal Destination New Tokyo System, Takta Ran
Signal Id: Ambassador Ze'ev Barak

Mr. Ran, I was happy to recive your messege, but I think you may have missunderstood what is going on. My mission with this trip is to set up diplomatic relations for the Artisan Farmers Alliance, we are a group headed by Master Morimoto. Our goal is to convince the Imperial Kusari Government to change it's policy on importation of foreign food and other products into Kusari. We veiw this importation as a national threat to the Kusari people and a trend that must be reversed. On my trip I wish to meet with the diplomatic representive of the Black Dragons because we share vital intrests when it comes to Kusari, intrests that would probably be better managed by co-operation as opposed to individualy. If you are the diplomatic representitve of the Black Dragons, then I welcome you to my ship so we could discuss the future of our two factions.

Thank you,
Ambassador Ze'ev Barak
Artisan Farmers Alliance
-close signal-

With that taken care of, Barak looked at th second message waiting for him. This was from Sean Dawson, leader of the NLH, a group he hoped to become very close with. These Gaians held many of the same things dear to them. The belived that tinkering with nature leads to problems, same as we do. They fight against the Britonians and the House Corperations, same as us. Ze'ev hoped the message would bring good news, and as he read, he found he was right. Dawson was a go for the meeting, which would take place at Islay base in Edenbough, not far from his home in Kusari. It would be his last meeting before returning home. He almost felt he was saving the best for last. He was still waiting to hear from the TBH and BSG, and he was hoping this trip would be a sucsess.

" Send another message to the Black Dragons, If they dont respond soon, we'll change things up abit. We'll go to Islay first then Omicron Gamma, and back around to home." With that Ze'ev turned off the comm panel. His first mission for the Artisan Farmers Alliance was not going the way he wanted. At this point he would probably be happy to just get a deal done with the NLH. He was starting to get a little annoyed. He knew diplomacy took time to develope, but none the less he had left Sago with such hope for a grand diplomatic tour, alas, he felt a little deflated, but mabye he could use it as a motivation. Thinking back to the issue at hand, he decided to give BDS one more day before moving on.

Barak had gotten tired of waiting for the Black Dragons, he was disapponted in the way this was turning out. He figured it was time to go for the one diplomatic contact he thought would be an ace in the whole. He walked out to the bridge. "Helm, set course for Islay Base in Edinbough. Engage cruise engines." The Gaians we're a good bunch, they fought aganst unnatrual use of technology in planet development, they are against the House corperations as well as BMM and the Britonian Military. They Gaians and the AFA sat on both sides of the Kusari\Britonian border and together they could become powerful power brokers in Sirius-wide affairs. "Comm, send a messege to Mr. Dawson at Islay, let him know we are on our way." With that he leaned up against the rail and whatched as space passes by.

"Beautiful, aren't they?"

Barak swung around, surprised as a figure walked out of the darkness and stood next to him at the window. Barak leered at the door and reached for where his holster used to be before he hung it up for the night.

"Calm down, and sorry about not answering your call, I wanted to make it here in person. I can't risk more exposure in Kusari space by sending a transmission. My name is Elder Lucendez of the Corsair Brotherhood."

Juan's jaw tires as he goes through his annoyingly long name and trails off watching the ship travel through space.

"You know, I never tire of looking at the stars. They are our parents really. Strong, powerful and ever watchful. We fear their power and yet can't live without them. Our molecules were once a part of those very stars, but when those stars died, they gave birth to other stars that eventually gave birth to us. We grew around that star, cherished it's light and warmth, yet the children argued and bickered. And soon, when we grew too large, we launched ourselves into the void of space to seek out new stars that would hold, for us, a new life."

"They are like parents, slow and conservative, watching children grow up too quickly and violently." Juan turned to Barak. "Simply, if you stare into the void, the void stares back."

Juan smiled and turned to Barak, leaning on the sill of the portal.

"I'm sorry that I must say this, but I would suggest that you stay away from Gamma for awhile. Nothing personal mind you. It's just that the winds of change are blowing, and with those winds comes cross-fire, if you know what I mean. We have the potential to make a very big enemy in the next few days and that could jeopardize any diplomatic meeting. Our attention must be turned fully towards matters of state for the time being."

Juan waits for a response.

"The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace. The foundations of the Mansion House hotel stuck up above the ground. The stone was chipped and split by the fire. It was all that was left of the town of Seney. Even the surface had been burned off the ground.
Nick looked at the burned-over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there."
