I always thought Keepers was one of the elite factions out there. Something exclusive. High standards of roleplay. Great people to play with, also play against.
And: It's true for most players, especially the smalls are rp-ed with loving detail.
And then, this happens: A Marduk comes into Dublin, and as a greeting, kills randomly with a preset line an IMG| passing by.
Keepers.XXXXXX: ***(a feeling of heat fills the area, intense heat as though a million people were furious in unison)***
IMG|Nathanael: wow nice
Death: IMG|Nathanael was killed by Keepers.XXXXXX (Gun)
We rp a bit later, still Dublin. Several small Nomads swarm Hood, we rp and shoot a bit, never really hitting anything. I even stopped hitting the smalls with the 12 Solaris Zephyr that could take them down to roleplay the carrier, communicate with the IMG, etc... it was a nice setting, it was rp with guns and words at the same time. It was good.
Until this happened:
Keepers.XXXXX: ***(a feeling of heat fills the area, intense heat as though a million people were furious in unison)***
Death: IMG|Rockabill was killed by Keepers.XXXXX (Gun)
In all the RP the arrival of the huge Marduk was not even noticed, so great was the RP that was offered.
So... this is the RP of the biggest Nomad ship in the game? A ship that is so rare and so unique that people would run in terror, hundreds of orders could be given, feelings of extreme intensity could be transferred via nomad-talk... but instead: pewpew-sneak-into-rp-environment-4-second-cheapkill-next-to-enemy-base.
This is seriously not what I expected Keepers rp to be like after I have seen lovely designed Keepers a lot.
The biggest of them, the most visible, the one that draws attention of all, is an absolute fail compared to all the others. I cannot say it any other way.
I don't know whether this minimal roleplay engagement fits your understanding of how this game can also be played. It for sure doesn't fit what I expect from a Nomad capital ship that attacks the IMG flagship in Dublin 5 k from Hood.
This scene could have been epic. The loss of the Zephyr could have happened in a cool (though futile) fight. This had had the potential for a great story, nice ingame reports, consequences to protection, etc...
But as it just was such a fail for me, and so much potential was just wasted, I will not even mention it, neither include it into any roleplay, nor draw consequences.
It's just another situation which could have been awesome... could... have... been.
Yes, QQ. Now tell me to "get over it" and "move on". I still expect much more of a faction of your reputation.
Just posting to give a little idea on what happened.
I'll be honest, the brain washing/RP/***..*** thing we little nubfartvoidrunnerthingies did with you lot, of course, your answers to us inRP was good, and fun.
Buuut, when the gunboat and fighters started moving to the Zep, and the solaris guns firing at us so mad with 100% accuracy, we had a hard time evading that even in our little voidnommies...
Of course, I am NOT implying that the act of your minions was out of RP, it was completely understandable, and that was what was supposed to happen, but the thing is...I mean, we're keepers and all, but we're also humans (player-side), soooo....simply:
Voidrunners = Kill gunboat/fighter
Gunboat/fighters = run to zep with solaris
solaris shoot us = we couldn't do anything
therefore
solaris zep = bad
therefore,
solaris zep must die.
Sooo, we brought in the Marduk, BUT, again, being honest here, that Marduk was in your scanner range for 1 or 2 minutes flat. And yes, the battlefield was pretty messy, but RP-wise, that's the commanding officer's fault for not noticing the Marduk, and it paid the price heavily.
BUT, the thing is, Nomads are smart. Just like humans, we can plan things out too, tactics, whatever. And Nomads can do that even more efficiently than humans. So, the Marduk shouldn't have actually responded to anything until it felt that it was too late for the human carrier to do anything. Normally, if it was vanilla, that Marduk would have been cloaked and right next to your carrier the whole time, just laughing it's head off at it's own trollsomeness(I know that's not a word). And then uncloak and kill you.
Soo, not much of a difference really.
Now, if the Rubicon died while I was piloting it, I'd be mad too, and post a Q_Q thing as well, buut, I'd GET OVER IT, and I have no doubts you will as well Jack.
' Wrote:I'd actually prefer to see Keepers act the same as vanilla Nomads would, just shooting crap when they're pissed off.
That's the main thing here.
People say they want the Nomads to be ruthless, aggressive aliens like in the SP campaign. Then when they do act like Vanilla Nomads, threads like this one spawn.
