Even charging horrendous amounts for these ships, you'll be able to shell out for your buddies, and get interest.

I suppose this brings us back to teaching people to role play. But lets face it, it takes all kinds to make this world turn and I have always been under the belief that the best game rules are coded. What else do you suggest?

Don't allow money transfer between different characters owned by the same player, unless one character has a real RP reason to be getting that money. Don't allow people to give money to other players without a real RP reason to do so... And being an OOC friend isn't a good reason.

But, you see, this is bloody difficult to enforce, and requires a lot of judgment calls by the Admins. So it's not a good idea.

I agree here. The Corsairs should get money from artifact smuggling and piracy only, for instance. Bretonian militaries should be financed by BMM and BowEx paying taxes, Kusari by Samura and Kishiro. Outcasts should make money from drug smugglers, Blood Dragons from piracy.

See....I dont see me loaning anyone 900 mills..or even 500 mills.
I just don't...maybe once, I would give someone that for a trader, but, honestly, I don't think many people would.

And as for coded balances to the economy here....I think we might need more living expenses.
More upkeep.
Just make it higher, make suiciding not a get out of repairs free card.
Give everything hitpoints, so your scanner, your armour, everything takes radiation damage...and make repairing things more costly.
So that there is some sort of balance between what you make and what you pay.
Sure, make a lot of money, but, that money making ship should cost a lot to run.

In the case of cap ships why not have licenses that get lost when your vessel is destroyed? Not so much a restriction on how many you can own, but more you must have one. Attach the 'Cannot launch without radar" code to them. In cases of not having enough on board, there could be a service to replace lost licenses. That would be incentive to keep at least that extra amount on board. All license will be availible everywhere.

(Note these numbers are being based on Disco as it currently stands)

Loose your gunship or basic transport (1000-2500 cargo) it costs 15 million to buy the required license for upkeep.

Loose your Cruiser or high end transport it costs 35 million for the upkeep.

Loose your Battle cruiser or liner, 50 million.

Loose your Battleship 100 million.

Thoughts even thou they spin this thread off topic?

That would be what you would call a faction responsibility then.

and, I finance my faction.
I finance it well, and people are welcome to ask for more cash....they generaly don't, though...we have to keep doing missions to keep our rep right...or maybe they are just too proud.

Problem is if Transports are going to be that expensive, people will start buying before new version arrives and thus make big money out of them...

When i started here i did not know anybody and did not wanted any help, so it took me bout 15 hours to buy me humpback, i traded whole week with it and then bought me train, so you see if you wanna make traders extra expensive you need to add them more cargo(i bet that adv. train had more then 5k cargo). So if ya want to transport cost 900mill it has to have like 20k cargo..... So i dont like that idea to much......

And i dont have that kind of money on all my chars, yes i tend to trade, but i also spent it fast....

not here
