Everything he states here is covered by the IMG|...[D] or even =CR=. There's nothing new/original. The only thing I can see here is the lust for power and a mentality like "Why to start from 0 in their faction when I can do exactly the same faction, offer the right to use Zephyrs to everyone and lead my own faction".
I already saw TWO Admirals online... What does that tell you about a faction like this?
And the bad words thrown against the official IMG| faction is another bad thing which will lead you nowhere. I'm very sorry for you but this has nothing new and I (I'm talking for myself here) am against this faction.
Stop flaming these guys on the Forum, if you don't like it, deal ingame with it.
When we started the IAF|back in the day (Yes, unofficial IMG faction, with a similar purpose) people went ZOMG!!1!! NO U CAN'T HAZ CAPSH!PZ! (we had two...) too. In the end we got exclusively positive feedback from the people we interacted with. Too bad it died due to inactivity when the server went down last year...
Anyway, give those fellas a fair chance. Let them establish their RP a bit and get used to them being around, yelling at them here won't change anything (exept you'll look like immature fools). You do your RP, let them do theirs.
The point of these things is to give criticism, and to explain things that we as the members of this community see as wrong or what we'd like to change..
In any case, so far my interactions with TDF is.. Well, not good.

Now, there IS to many IMG factions already (not including CR).
And this is basically something every IMG faction has, a Defensive force.
PLUS, that the Zoner Defense Force has a wing Called: Tau Defense Force... So change names or something...

They do but the ZDF's Tau wing still flies the ZDF- tag. There should be no confusion between the two even if this grou uses TDF.
Personally, I agree with Politus. I've seen two admirals online and a few others. What this group covers is already covered by the IMG| or the =CR=. Why haven't they joined those factions? Simple. They can't call themselves Admirals, have cap ships, and have to follow orders. They want to be independant, so why not stay that way?
Does Disco need them? Well, to tell the truth, the needs of this mod aren't exactly my primary concern, so I can't really expect them to be his either.
But I do think that you would do well to distinguish yourself from the other IMG factions. Perhaps with a bit different goals and history? You might want to consider doing that at least in .86, although I'm guessing it won't be that easy, with the IMG diplomacy looming large over that of your own. Still, if you do or do not choose to do this, I wish you luck and a speedy integration into this community... Or something.
We were escorting a shipment, we can do that because we were defending an IMG transport and the TDF was created to protect IMG so it is perfectly alright
Ill let you know that a lot of the people we deal with in game think that the faction is a great source of RP and said to keep it up and give us little pointers on how to improve
To Mao : i don't see why you think there are to many IMG factions, it doesn't matter if there is 1 or 50 there will only ever be a certain amount of ppl in the IMG at one time so why do you abject to the idea so much, we are the defence force for the IMG, and ive only ever seen 2 other IMG factions. in game and i play at all different hours through the day so you can say they only get on at a certain time and i missed them

No its not.
5.2 All attacks must be the result of some form of role play. "Engaging" is not sufficient. An attack is any hostile action that drains shields to less than 50%. Being hit with a CD is not considered an attack. If a player is attacked he has a right to defend himself regardless of who is attacking.
