I was bringing a couple of codenames out of Gallic space through Tau systems and was scanned by a KNF fighter, who then called in two buddies and proceeded to hijack my cargo. They said it was because transporting codenames was against the law. This is BS--first of all the laws say nothing about codenames, and second they were using any excuse at hand to take my stuff.

Short version is that they were pirating, using the KNF tags to let them roam freely.

This seems to be against the RP rules as I understand it so I am looking for clarification. Is any piracy good to go as long as you make a minimal effort at covering with dialog?

But no, you should totally report them for piracy, as it is a violation of their ID to do so outside of the law.

That line from the KNF ID tells me that if it's contraband they can make you drop it. If it's not contraband (in this case it doesn't seem like it, since it's not posted anywhere) then they can't make you drop it.

Also it seems like a jerk thing to do, but every story has two sides.

Also, also don't fly around with unmounted codes. They're too valuable.

so this situation could be not that clear as it could be...

You were in a transport going from the Taus to Bretonia with other cargo besides the codenames and thus breaking the embargo. You were asked to stop and instead of obeying the officers you kept running. Then you thought insulting 2 KNF officers would be fun. Then you died. Then you come on the forum and Q_Q.

Edit: Quotes from the Kusari laws:

1. Defaming the State or the Emperor or insulting a Samurai's honor (all KSP/KNF officers) is forbidden and fined or paid in blood.
No fine is worthy samurai's honour.

2. The export of any products from/through Kusari space to Bretonia is forbidden.

oh oh..:DI got screens with chatlog.. and what I can tell you.
Next time if you want to move your codes to liberty or any other space through kusari using bretonia... first drop all other cargo from your hold.
Obey orders from police/millitary, do not thrust when they told you to stop... and definatelly do not insult them.... especially in kusari.

I shot you. And I shot you as you were taking that and additional cargo to Bretonia inside leeds. Read about the Kusari Embargo. NOTHING, not even codenames are allowed to be hauled there. you got busted - you refused to drop the offending cargo (What we demand from anyone that breaks the embargo) and even insulted 2 [KNF] Officers.
