happened again in alaska. so i want to clear things up.

when on cheshire, like 4 out or 5 traders / smugglers say that the BHG has no right to stop them ( as if they ever stopped, not one of them knows the meaning of "stop please", trader, smuggler, legal goods, contraband alike ) and enforce the law on them.

so, the question is - is the BHG allowed to enforce the law ( as so well seen on the NPCs, even in systems that they should really not try to enforce a low in ) or are they not allowed. is the BHG only allowed to ask traders to spill thier contrabant when they have an official contract with the house police - or can they do that wtihout it.

edit: rheinland allready made clear that they do not like BHGs to do their job there - official statement from the RM faction, i can live with it. - if all the houses make that .... there s no need for the BHG anymore though.

On the faction authority thing, LSF has authority to stop people in Liberty i can tell you that as im a member. Ive stopped several vessels. But on your case Jinx, i dont think you have authority as BHG, only LSF and SA i think have that right in Liberty Space
@ an idea im gonna bounce off someone. If i caught a smuggler would several Nuke mines around them be something to dter them from trying to run?

Bounty Hunters don't care about the law, they can even balance on the edge of the law themselves. They are the ones to do the dirty job. All they care about is their wallet. They take a bounty and get paid when they finish it. Of course they don't want to have any conflicts with the house military and police, but they should never actively enforce the law on smugglers, that doesn't make sense to me...

My take on this Jinx is that BH can ask anywhere their NPC's ask... which is absolutely anywhere.

However, they could get the authorities backs up... just as in real life. So you may get a smuggler to drop their cargo for you and the LSF may in turn get you to drop it for them.

BH aren't the only people who suffer... Non-faction members get it from same tag and id members of the official faction. E.g. I was an Order tagged and id pilot. I was asked by bs| to drop some zoners I had just got from asking some Corsair for. I dropped them of course. You can't be an "independent" who is being shot at by his own player faction. However I did feel slightly persecuted in "just doing my job".

hmm interesting....
thats why im not independent. and why im in LSF.
That gives me an excuse to enforce the contraband thing. And if an independent forced a smuggler to drop their cargo and the indy tractored it in. I would force the Independent to drop it so i can either A: make money off the contraband or B: Destroy it. Probably B. But i would take it elsewhere not my own space as that would be corruption.

I would say that you can ask for illegal goods... because that puts the trader on the other side of the law... so you can attack him if he refuses..... But you cannot ask for money/tax.

But if you do this in house systems... the local police/military might not like it... so they'll surely ask you to drop it and pay a fine... unless you destroy the cargo off course.

exactly, if i catch a smuggler or lawful carrying contraband in Liberty either ill catch you and fine you, or ill catch you and destroy you if you refuse to drop it. Or ill never catch you because i have no CDs

@Jinx's edit:... What I said is that you can ask smugglers to drop illegal cargo also outside the house systems...there's plenty of room there]

Just a little something here.
Kusari allso makes it clear they do -not- want the BHG within their inner core systems. Read the rumors on bases and notice the ammount of BHG activity withing kusari's inner systems. Non at all.
@Vape : Please mate.. not everything is about you and the LSF. Remember that.

I kind of agree with majkp here, Bounty Hunters don't actively enforce menial laws against things like smuggling. That's the work of police and military. Usually, a Bounty Hunter's only source of income is that from hunting bounties. Taking contraband from a smuggler isn't a lawful action for a Bounty Hunter, it's like a mercenary stealing crack from a drug dealer. Taking smuggled goods is pirating for anyone except police and military.
