Tha would be a cool weapon. Long range, high power turrets... tha would be helpful against battleships...

Again, I bring in the weapon class of Rail Guns.
With no atmo to stop the bullet (or rail, if you want) they could go on just about forever. So, to sum up what a Rail Gun should have;
-Extreamly high armor damage
-Little shield damage
-Very long range
-slow turn rate (for the higher class of these guns)
-High energy consumption
-High speed
Oh, on a purely asthetic note, they should look like the Transport Turrets you see on the stock ships (Small for civilian, Medium for class 9 or Gunboat/Destroyer, and Large for the Battleships).

Called Flak turrets. Though they don't do much damage so they aren't going to be available to use at long distance unless you want to fight for 2 hours.
I don't see why flak turrets are to be used against other cap-ships.
Flak turrets have always been used to stop bombers and fighters, flak is a air-bursting shell that kills bombers and/or fighter by shredding them with shrapnel.
So why are they now being used to fight off other cap-ships?
Quick question... Who actually uses Flak Turrets? They're slow and don't do anything save take up a turret slot and energy. Fighters (NPC) never get hit by them, and if they won't ever get hit, then a PC fighter will certainly never get hit.
I just loose 'em; pick up another missile or energy turret.
