Staff roles:

Adrenaline rush. Cold sweats. Hot sweats. Hands shaking so much I can barely aim. The only PvPs that don't do that to me are against the RM, because those can last 45 minutes or more in the big furballs that I usually find myself in. I think everytime I have been flying as Spear's wingman, and the RM seem to all know that they can ignore me and go after him as the major threat.
I find myself avoiding it, usually because I have valuable cargo that I don't want to risk losing or I have something pressing that I have to do that PvP would interfere with.
I'm not ashamed to say that while I have blown quite a few people up, I don't think that I have yet won an evenly matched fight. Either my ship outclassed theirs, or there was a huge difference in skill level in my favor.
When I do find myself in a fight that is basically even, the rush is fantastic!

Have to fully agree with this one.... also the biggest problem with fights where you "feel" that you are better than him is loosing your concetration... which can be deadly as all my fighters die to one nuke/sunslayer.

Only fight where I felt the rush lately was invading Gamma against twice as many Corsairs than we were.... too bad lagg ruined it...and hunting Skyelius in my Crow... :)

Sorry Spear but.. we are just so used to each other's style that there is no rush... :(

PvP is for me the main element of Freelancer as a game.

Roleplay is the cherry on top. After a while of senseless slaughter - you prefer to see the reason behind the next one. Be it fending off a wave of cylon raiders, defense of a vital installation from the nomads or see ing to it, that a trader finishes his run safely.

I've been flying many different ships over the last year - from viper (which I lov for the looks) through Light cruisers (which i have grown to love most), battleships I hated for the moves and quite recently (thx to the IMG gunboat mostly) - gunboats in all their sleekness.

Bit like Doom - love to fight against the odds. Like once - an Outcast fleet massed into tau-44 with only me n' Doom defending (wackiest fight i remember) We kept the bustaz busy and still took down one fighter down with us before succumbing toa few destroyers and batleships.

/A bunch of fighters/bombers in THE solution to all/

I'm dire at PVP... but it is the only part of the game to get my heart thumping.

So, much as I fear it, and lose most of the time, I do love it.

I try to practice it when I can and would love to be more skilled.

I try to avoid PvP mostly becasue i have very bad aim with a fighter but i can dodge and manuveur easily.
Last time i did a PvP it was above Manhattan versus a Rouge gunboat fighting in my LI Gunboat.
I drained his shields quickly but his armour was tough. he was just circiling me and eneded up killing me.
I dont mind going to conecicuit arena for some PvP fun though

You love it really.:P

My coward's style has kept myself and my wingmen alive on more than one occasion, and I see it as the perfect way to take your opponent's measure. After a few minutes of dodging, I tend to get a very good idea of how my opponent moves, making my eventual hammerblow all the more dangerous.

Anyway, 'honour is of no use to the dead'. I'll stay alive and kicking, thanks... when their back is turned or when they're down... since that's the best time to kick someone.

PvPs can be really fun just try not to get to annoyed ecause someone torps you or summit, the most important bit is just relax and swear outload rather than typing;)

I must say i hate when people fight like cowards. Everytime there shield goes down they run. Even if it is a fair battle. That how the fight can last over 2 hours. So i dont see the point of it.

The point? To avoid unnecessary risk.
