We'll need a clean install to play 4.86? Why?

Will there also be a FLMM mod file released? Because I don't want to reconfigure Freelancer for my dual displays again..

Will this new installer be compatible with the approved graphics mods?

Manual installation of either the HudShift or Realistic Lighting Mods should still be possible, since the structure of the game files/folders will not change.

I might need to find a method of installing the Realistic Lighting Mod manually, though... Once I work that out I will post instructions in that thread.

There was a sig here, once.

because a clean install is the baseline to troubleshoot any problems that a person may encounter.

Yes, you'll need a clean Freelancer installation in order to install and play Discovery 4.86. Changes'n'stuff not compatible with FLMM.

As far as I know no separate FLMM release is planned and unlikely there'll be one.

Approved and compatible modifications may be rolled into optional install components.

Installation file is about 100MB, it's highly compressed. 1.3Gigs is a full size of Freelancer + Discovery 4.86.

In other words, a form of autoupdating is intended so that smaller, but more frequent changes can be applied. FLMM can't handle that.

Wide awake in a world that sleeps, enduring thoughts, enduring scenes. The knowledge of what is yet to come.
From a time when all seems lost, from a dead man to a world, without restraint, unafraid and free.
