So you're Unioneers are allied to the Red Hessians, but also allied to thier worst enemy the corsairs, and hostile to one of the hessians closest allies, the SCRA? Even though disco lore says the Unioneers broke of their corsair alliance?

A Unioner will come along here shortly to explain things in more detail, but basically, the Unioners use the fact that they are tied to the LWB, as well as a history of cooperation with the Hessians in order to maintain their good relations with the Hessians, while simultaniously dealing with the Corsairs. Essentially, they want to differentiate themselves from the Hessians, who are in some ways their rivals for piracy territory, but don't want to engage in open war against them, because they have less numbers than the Hessians, and would lose a valuble ally in their fight against the Rheinlandic government.

But, like I said, an actual Unioner can come in and answer your question better. I'm just a banana farmer.

Let it burn.

I'm not a Unioner, so I can't really answer this question.. SCRA aren't Hessians, though - just because someone is allied it doesn't mean they are "at war" with that faction's rivals. Liberty Rogues are allied to the Outcasts, but they maintain neutral relations with the Corsairs even despite this. Just because two factions are allied to one another it doesn't mean they have the same enemies.

SCRA is a completely different faction from the Hessians. SCRA is a communist military power, it makes sense that Unioners would fight them given the fact that Unioners have a history of clashing with authoritarian regimes (namely the oligarchy establishment of Rheinland).

Besides, the Unioners are not a military power. The Unioners are a leatherneck band of shipyard workers fighting against the perceived corruption in Rheinland society. The Unioners don't really have the resources to wage war - they deploy an opportunistic strategy when it comes to fighting Rheinland. Unioners are more like vigilantes whereas the Hessians and SCRA are separatists/militants. The political ideology behind the Unioners is dramatically different than that of the Hessians - Hessians want to annihilate Rheinland's military capabilities whereas Unioners are looking to enact social and cultural change in the political structure. Unioners are a nationalist group, they're not "enemies of the state" like the SCRA and the Hessians. Unioners fight the Rheinland military only because they get in the way of their business, and not because they want to "destroy/conquer" Rheinland.

That's my perception of things, atleast.

Don't forget the other main reason why the Unioners don't break off their alliance with the Hessians: they get to keep a cut of profits from the lucrative Blood Diamond trade by being middlemen and acting as security. Ideological concerns aside.

Exactly. :cool:Doesn't that make us 20% cooler?

But in reality here's the basic concept:

The Unioner movement is a lot smaller then the Hessian one, thus an open conflict is not acceptable.

But at the same time, the Unioners don't feel like joining the almighty Hessian revolution, because they're less revolutionary sided and more bend of terrorism, thus the whole public image is a "BURN THEM, BURN THEM ALL!" for the average civilian Hans. Along with that, the Unioners had tried an Alliance with the Corsairs in the past (a bit before Vanilla 800A.S.) so after 19 years they're rethinking about the profit. (I'd like to note that the idea of being shaped more like terrorists and less then revolutionaries was mostly a plan to separate the faction from it's big brother (The Hessians) and give different experience. Overall, trying to move away from Hessians mk II. So far it's worked great, there were some that cried, but mostly people take the idea nicely)

Combine all of the above and you get that under the table deals with the Corsairs are better then obviously calling them clear allies and getting a conflict with the Hessians. At the same time deals with the Hessians continue to flow.

As for the SCRA situation, the Coalition had some run ins with us back in Bastian's time and at the end resulted in war. After said war sprawled there have been a few (counted on fingers) open skirmishes between the two factions. But neither side has managed to convince the Hessians to pick their side.

Where's the negative feedback for AGS? I'm terribly disappointed at the insane amount of positive karma points received so far.

Unioner in Texas didn't give me any reason to eject it as the ship was completely legal. While you are considered hostile, you're not known criminals.

So stop not giving me reasons to shoot you :nono:

Just kidding of course. Very happy with the faction and how it's carried out. Sorry about the karma thing, Ryummel:(

And Raubtier doesn't log enought! :nono:

Ok Blood / Fran, here's the negative feedback, where's my beer now? 8-|
