I found this server at IP 76.7.225.88:2302 about a week ago.

It runs the new Discovery Mod 4.84.

The ping for me is very low, about 65 ms, and makes for fun again fighting NPC ships as they are not bouncing all over the screen.

PvP on this server is optional and must be agreed upon by both parties.

If you are tired of all the RP stress and need a break, give it a try. Its especially nice to try other ships that you may be prevented from using on Discovery due to RP constraints or just to try and see if you like it.

Last night I played there for a few hours and found the Huntress cruiser class ship, what a hugh beast, but very nice looking and fun to try out. This was my first cap ship ever, and I felt like a ping-pong ball going through the asteroid fields, finding my way out of Kappa.

The few players I met there were very friendly and helpful.

So if you need a break from the RP stress, want to try new ships or weapons, give it a try. You start with 100 mil credits so can try most anything you want in a short time.

Great server.

Low ping you say? Sounds like the server for me...

Hm, Kansas... I haven't checked on that one in a while. It was a fun little place, last time I was on. Took out my Rheinland Cruiser and interrogated the occasional trader. Neat little place to explore, too. Give it a try.

I'm an SP (Server Police) on Kansas.

Don't try to start any clans (player factions) on Kansas, as current server rules don't allow that.

Here are the Kansas Home Page and Kansas Server Forums.

Well, it looks like the Kansas server has had the plug pulled on it. I also checked their forum to see if perhaps it was just having a problem and the forum is also no more.

What a shame, it was a low lag server and I had already owned three capital ships on it and was having a lot of fun flying them since I can not try such ships on Disco due to RP restrictions. I had a mess of nomad and code weaps in my hold. I actually seen the admin "Paladin" on a couple nights ago, only two players were on at the time and he gave no indication that he was pulling down the server. I suspect a lack of players killed it, never did see more than six on at a time and the forum was for the most part not being used.

Goodbye to another one.........

I had no idea, but that explains why I didn't see the Kansas server on the Global Server workaround's list of 4.84 servers tonight.

I think I checked the Kansas forums yesterday and there hadn't been any new posts since the last time I checked about a week ago. There wasn't any warning in the {DREAD} (server police) section.

You may remember me on the Kansas forums as Brujo, which is the name I first used for my SP characters back in 2004.

Yes. I'm a little saddened by the loss. That means that I'm no longer an SP now.

I was going to recommend the Discovery 4.84 New Jersey 24/7 server, but I noticed that you are the newest registered user on their forums: Discovery_NJ_24_7.

I'll probably sign up for the NJ forums tomorrow.

Kansas is dead; Long live New Jersey!

EDIT: Kansas forums were down because they were under attack yesterday. Kansas forums are back up now, but the server is still down (hopefully that's temporary).

Thanks for the update Juan, I hope you are right. I was having a lot of fun playing with the cap ships, blasted my first Nomad Battleship there with a Zoner Destroyer in Alaska.

I will check on them later and see if they are back up......hope so.

I think that's an old IP address. Based on what I've read on the Kansas forums, Kansas is back up. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it for myself, since Kansas is no longer listed on the Global Server Workaround (that I normally use to connect to Discovery servers).

I'll check the Kansas forums (where one of the Admins sent me a PM containing the latest IP address), then I'll edit this post with the new IP address.

EDIT1: Latest Kansas IP address -- 76.7.224.41:2302

Note that the Kansas IP address changes whenever their ISP goes down, since their ISP apparently reassigns all IP addresses when it comes back up, so this is something that happens a few times per month.

EDIT2: List of recent Kansas IP changes -- December 11, 13, 18, 25, 2007. After that I think they stopped listing the changes in their Server Help thread, apparently because they thought that everybody should use their Freelancer Server Leech program to connect to Kansas. Somebody at Kansas created the Server Leech program after the Global Server went down. I couldn't figure out how to use the Server Leech (I couldn't find any documentation for it), so I've been using the Global Server Workaround (which doesn't list Kansas). I know that the Kansas IP address changed again by January 27 and at least once more since then.
