Read the Forbes article... seemed like a bunch of fear-mongering crap from a guy who doesn't know jack about how his 1990 dot matrix works, let alone a 3D printer.

Personally I'd be more worried about some kid cooking up a nuke made from smoke alarms, or a batch of anthrax in his mom's compost heap.

Not quite a nuke. If you have enough smoke alarms, you can use the radioactive metal in them to make a dirty bomb.
