Nice to see that this topic is interesting for more and more people,
and for moderator and admin team too, because we need, me in a first place
to realize where is the place for funny pictures and post and where if we
don't agree with someone better don't post, not ruin a whole topic.
Thanks, and i hope more players had opinion about trollers in this community.
1st: lemme say, I like this thread. It's reasonable.
Being a reasonable type of guy, & personally speaking, I'm willing to be reasonable & do the extra work required to logistically carry out what's being suggested here on my end...however, keep in mind that nothing in the world is ever truly free & I expect something in return for it.
Police yourselves better so that I don't have to.
The best suggestions I can offer are:
Don't feed the trolls
If a thread is being hijacked by trolls, PM us about it & never, ever expect us to just magically notice it.
Always remember that every single one of the staff, mod & admin alike, are not your enemy. We are players 1st & foremost and all staff duties are secondary to that.
Those of you that like to go off on the 'us vs. them' mentality need to get over that & realize that we aren't powermad. We do the job & tolerate the hate and the pooflinging towards us simply because we love the game & the community around it and we know that's just part of the job...but sometimes, it really does suck all the fun out of being here.
Anyway, the forum zeitgeist rotates like the seasons & some times are better than others...but they always repeat.
In the less better times, There's this quote that plays in my head while working the forums: "The police used to watch over the people, now they're watching the people"
Y'all have no idea how much I hate it when the times make it become an echoing mantra in my head when I sign on.
Like I said, personally, I'll do my part but I expect to be met half way if it's gonna work
After i read your post i just want to say thanks, and yes we need often to PM someone
from moderator or admin team when someone start to ruined some topic, not feed a trollers.
Some good reading. What is of concern now, is how would one decide what is trolling and what is not? If this gets a go, there will be a lot less of bickering and "you this, you that." On the other hand, if this is not taken seriously by the mods, then it could lead to a major over moderation of the forum, which will draw people away. I like the idea, I am just hoping it is not as sweet as the idea of communism, if my analogy is clear.

So to go back to the original topic, after everyone saying that they are all reasonable people and the unreasonable people are everybody else, how about we re-open the topic that was locked. It appears that one of the people involved in having the topic locked was a banned player. A banned player who was apprently let to post by some admins, although they knew he was banned, but they let him be until he attacked someone and one admin said this is not right. To discuss, why are so many people here so angry? If the people who say they are reasonable are really reasonable, let us see it.

That's the thing here, defining the boundaries is a bit hard as I said after all "they" are human beings and human beings tend to have different ideas and values in life. A relatively recent example was the "nudity" on the forums, there wer a lot of polemics about what exactly defines porn and nudity, but at the end of the day the mods stepped up imposed more severe restriction and even though some might not like them so far we abide by them
This might be a strange question, but do admins actually started working on implementing troll deterrent techniques? I see some people with post counters set to 0 or a very small number. Please advise.

Marburg, I can't really say anything other than I love your post. I think I'll bookmark it incase I find myself needing to review my behaviour or thoughts.

2-3 mounth ago I had a discussion abou one thing with 3 players on forum. Then came one ''good'' person named [REDACTED] and flooded all with pictures.
Some people sayed that this was fun. Question: Why this funny? I had discussion with people and our discussion was trolled, topic locked. Just WTF? I understand that it was in Flood section, but at least can you respect other? [REDACTED] was not sanctionied because of flood of cource, and I was not completed my discussion. Where is justice here? Nowhere... No justice on Disco...
Edit: oh, btw... Forgot about [REDACTED]... she is not sanctionied too because of words: ''You must die'' to player in General Discussion topic
This brings to mind another issue. Legitimate discussions in Flood. They will be destroyed by flooders, and were once upon a time being locked. Take your legitimate discussions out of flood, then they can be moderated (and spammers reported) for off-topic or trolling.

It's okay Garrett, we still love you <3 Dun forget you're an admin now too, so it doesn't count.
Additionally I find it relevant to bring up that thousands upon thousands of posts or threads (but specifically posts) that take it way over the line are invis'd. This work is being done. Spammy posts that take it too far are removed.
This leads me onto the concept of how to define trolling or spamming otherwise. Firstly, good luck to you sir, because it's just soooooo easy to do that. Sarcasm, for example (see earlier) can in certain usages, and in others not be thought of as trolling. I think repeated posts of a nature akin to that could be pushing it towards the boundary and even into the former consideration. As in it would be trolling.
Marburg's right too, if someone is seriously misbehaving in a thread, PM a mod. But I'd say treat this (almost) like a sanction. Use the sandwich rule.
If your topic was locked not on the basis of the original content, but on the spam that it ended in, and it was not in flood, I would personally recommend PMing a mod, once, politely to ask if you could in one way or another continue the conversation in the original thread or elsewhere.
While I do think the idea of reporting and tempbans that follow being appropriate action, I think the mechanic of locking someone from posting in a thread for their behaviour should be investigated.
I am however concerned about the inevitable locking of people's QQ or raeg, and as a result feeling vindicated or otherwise, leading to more QQ, raeg, or conspiracy theorists. Same thing already happens with invis sometimes, but locking would have a more profound effect, I'd think.
Makc, this is the internet. People post what they do, for one reason or another. Normally they think they're being funny in your example*. And personally I'm not aware of anyone being post-counter modified, apart from the effects of invisibling and what not. I feel like a post counter change, while it might hurt some people egotistically, should not be implemented and instead tempbans, longer bans or permabans used accordingly.
Sorry for the wall of text everyone. Lot of ideas to discuss. Edit: According to animal testing, it also doesn't take long to read.
* Upon said re-read, this sounded like a personal attack. The example I refer to is that which Makc provided himself.
