They decided to go a different way from the forced-down-our-throats plot so they both were punished in the wars they didnt want to 'properly' attend to.
I wish they'd have done more, really woulda had interesting results.

Well before 4.86 Bretonia was kind of fighting a two way war with Gallia and Kusari. Although Gallia wasn't quite as persistent on offensives then.
But with an active opponent like Rheinland then Bretonia would just be overrun, in a two way war. Since at the moment it's basically taking everything Bretonia's got to repel the, concentrated, Gallic assaults.
the relations between rhein-bret are limited to 'trading partners' at best, especially as brets are close allies of the libertonians, who the rheins are at war with.
