Go Flyers. Going for the sweep, got to love it, and I have been staying up till like 5am local time watching the game. Love it! Love it!

You know, as demonstrated I have totally been Mr. Optimist about the Wings, but seriously, I'm so disappointed right now. The amount that depends on the goalie in this game is ridiculous. We have to work so hard to get past some guy that uses oversized pads and had the good grace of being born with elephantiasis that when the puck gets back, we're dead tired, as seen in the 2nd goal Nashville scored today where Filpulla was just too tired to concentrate on what was going on and only realized the late man too late (ha!). Should change the description to "Goalie game" instead of "team game." See: LA Kings/Vancouver for more details (though that series tickles me all sorts of funny).

And honestly? Show me a team which plays in its own zone for 40 minutes and doesn't take a penalty. The amount of times Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond scream out something that the Predators did that wasn't called is ridiculous, including a penalty shot when Legwand clasped his hand over the puck in the crease. And then Cleary gets penalized for checking someone behind the net last game. Right. Anyway...

If not for Rinne, I feel like we'd have swept Nashville. But I guess that's how it goes. The guys who can figure out how to exploit the system the most win.

But you know what I really hate? I hate the fact that the NHL did nothing to that jerk who cracked Zetterberg's helmet in two places and he's rewarded for being malicious. That's crap. That's absolutely crap. And you can see the smear all over the rest of the Playoffs.

I completely agree on the point you make about Zetterberg. The entire playoffs have been just a sham. People are taking runs at one another all over the place. Worse, the officiating and subsequent discipline is completely inconsistent and often just outright godawful.

I really do want the Canucks to win tomorrow. And yet, part of me is totally okay with them losing because it means I won't feel obligated to watch any more of this year's playoffs which are far and away the worst in my living memory. And I mean that across all the series (I tend to watch a bit of everything) and I'd have the same opinion if it were the Canucks up 3-0.

The Pens aren't out yet, and they're catching up. This isn't over yet, not by a long shot.

How I felt as an Ottawa fan going into the Rangers series

How I feel as an Ottawa fan now

Though honestly I don't know if they'll get through the second round if they win the series. Grit and guts can win championships but relying on that burns you up awful quick.

Well, that's that, then. My new favorite team for the duration is whoever manages to knock the Flyers out of the playoffs.

I enjoy watching the Rangers so you guys will probably pull through. I guess karma really has it out for me for something I did related to hockey.

I went to go see the Detroit Symphony Orchestra play Dvorak's New World Symphony instead of watching Game 5 of the Detroit-Nashville series. When I left the Fisher Theater I decided to turn on the radio to see how the Wings were doing. The first thing I heard was "Pavel Datsyuk's stuck was chopped in half. No penalty called." I immediate shut off the radio as to not ruin the night.

That said the Boston-Washington and Phoenix-Chicago series are really interesting.

YAY! Round 2 and the Flyers are still in. :ylove: Claude Giroux is awesome so far. Also the "old one" Jaromir Jagr.

West:
Los Angeles - St. Louis
Nashville - Phoenix

East:
Washington - New York Rangers
New Jersey - Philadelphia

My bet for the Conference finals are:

St. Louis - Nashville

Rangers - Flyers

Go Flyers, and if it does go to a Philly/Rangers series, that would be AWESOME! Would mean 3 series against the 3 closest teams geographically. Rivalry series's are fantastic.
