surname is Taylor, still i want honest opinions on this small occurance. either in words or just as a simple vote.

I personally feel like this is a mistake to call his new son this.

He lives in Manchester England about 3 miles from me, and he always has done, born and bred brit

It really depends where he's from. Still quite an odd name. Like Mercedes or Ferrari names. Well, sure, not that odd.

Well, the founder of Mercedes named the label after his daughter, so that is a pretty name, just if we heare it we connect it with a car and not with a girl.

But Loki is an odd name, because it sounds like the short form of a name, so thats pretty much it, why i would say no. The short form is made by friends during the teenage years, but i would like to loose my nickname when im older, she/he doesnt even gets the chance to that...

But it could be worse, like that here!

So he's not even closely related to Scandinavian's? (unless you back about 1000 years )

I don't think so; I mean calling you kid Thor, or Data, or Othello all really cool, but imagine the grief he would get a school !

Stick to good old fashioned English names like, James, Edward, William or Beowulf ! :D

Go for Thor then.

And give him a mighty fluffy hammer.
