Intra-House cargo interdiction and policing should be left to police factions - meaning that if it happens inside of the core systems of a house, it's the Police's responsibility and area of jurisdiction. Inter-House - meaning everything happening on the borders of house space (either within a house controlled system or a system bordering a house's territory) is where the military factions come in.

Of course, there's no reason that the two shouldnt be working together when it's needed. A group of house police in light fighters and freighters arent going to be able to stop a hostile in a battleship, so they can call in house military forces for heavier firepower. Similarly, house militaries can coordinate with house police to track down vessels using tlagsnet, and to help monitor traffic coming into or going out of house space.

It gets trickier when the hostile is moving between houses. We dont have an 'interpol' here, so there's no force that can really take over in the uncontrolled territories. In some cases, such as between liberty and bretonia, or bretonia and rheinland, or rheinland and kusari, it makes sense for the military to pursue the enemy to the other house's borders, and then link up with military or police forces within the house. However, military forces entering a house that they dont belong to can be viewed as an invasion, especially between houses that are already at war with one another.

Typically i would say that police forces shouldnt be leaving their house's territory or controlled systems, but if it's necessary they can do so to track down a target they've been pursuing.

It's common to see Navies and Polices of certain houses stepping on each others toes, Some kind of boundries as to jurisdictions would be good.

The problem with that is that not everyone is going to agree. So In my opinion it should be left as it is.

As for the people calling for a complete disbandment of police factions because they're 'inactive'

activity_[KSP].html 15.14:42:20
activity_BPA).html 7.03:23:06
activity_LPI-.html 2.19:23:42 (not the best example, i know. But it certainly had high points in its recent past before some issues)

It doesn't take much to make them active, It's just the lack of people willing to try because of the adversity they face from already present forces.

Inactivity is not the reason police factions should be disbanded.

Redundancy is.

Don't forget the Gallic Royal Police. And redundant? Not the GRP. We actually have a unique RP of corruption, allowing us to <strike>pirate</strike> fine people and make under the table deals with unlawfuls.

Also, disbanding a faction just because is stupid. We didn't put time and effort to get to where we are to just have it disbanded.

Very valid point! It is always refreshing to see a police player or player group acting differently from the military.

You should see LPI, man, most of these guys are just awesome. Most, but every faction have a spoiled apple I guess.

No, the fact that the LSC is underpowered and sucks in 99% of situations is what forces people to use either the LABC or Thresher (hai agmommy).

Hell, it's not even good for sieging bases. You do more DPS permafiring 7 Liberty Cruiser Turrets (31.2kdps) than you do permafiring the forward gun (24.4kdps).

Remove LABC CD's and see how quickly the capspammers hop right back into their LSC's, or over into smaller ships with CD's.

Pointless. It is a cruiser after all. Why LABC shouldn't have a CD if all other cruisers have it?

I was responding to another post that implied that the LABC is somehow superior to the LSC.
