yes - and there is SA and LSF and LPI - but since tree compared it to the phantoms - ... i said, there is no second playerfaction of the TBH.. there are some Corsair factions, yes. - ( eg. 101 outcasts, and 202 outcasts which is a subsection of the playerfaction ( or is it? ) ... or QCO / QCP )

anyway - my concerns should have become clear.

well they are more a less squads within a faction not a entirely new faction in my opinion. QCO and QCP i believe are though but both are ran by the same people i think.

101st and 202nd are a devision of '66th' just 2 different squads one purely for attack other for defense. i would not class both as seperate factions.

ok back on topic sorry boys n girls

Care to elaborate on that part? Names of players, will you? I seriously doubt you have any substantial information on that part and I also think you have no idea the way recruiting in my faction works, how I interview people, how I help them with roleplay and stories. Also the reasons why decline certain people. I will not reveal that information for privacy reasons, but, please, stop making false assumptions based on mere guesswork. Concerns they may be but baseless they are I can assure you, and until you have solid argument, solid evidence behind them I don't feel like fighting myths here, it's not my job, sorry.

And if we let people with out some form of control roleplay as the Wild, I hate to think how long the list of
sanction reports would get, in rather a short space of time. I hate to think how many people would be off
and looking for another server, because this one was a PvP fest, with little more than an excuse for RP.
I'd like to think we could trust everyone to be reasonable and balanced, but we can't ...
So there is little chance of a Wild faction without an administrative hand in it. I'm sorry, but that is the
hard truth of the matter.

Well, Jinx has argued the same way i tried, but in a more diplomatic manner.
Note for myself: Never discuss when tired.

"As for the Wild, just wait and see..."

Sorry for repeating it, but this sentence is what i'm concerned about. I don't know how many people really try to develop a roleplay for the Wilde, but it will prevent some to start with, thinking their work could be for nothing, feeling to be excluded.
This sentence also let me think, that a certain person is working on already, with your help and advises.
A kind of a fait acompli, presented with the next version. Even if i sound foolish sometimes, i can guess, where it may go.

Nevermind, i appreciate the amount of time you put in the development. As i said earlier, its a great addition for Discovery and i will come back to your offer and will send you a PM about the Wild.
(before i will read the Keepers faction thread again to date me up)

Respectful

I've been reading this thread with a little bit of interest...

I can see why a faction like the Wild would need to be regulated... we have semi regulated and unregulated factions in game now whose actions in terms of PVP are regulated slightly by the "reputation" system - and people are still crying out about "Pvp whorage" left right and centre... could you imagine how much more that would be if there was an open Wild faction who are actually allowed to fight EVERYONE?

I appreciate the principle of letting people play for whoever they want to play for, actually, i think it should work that way, but i think the sad fact is that many people simple couldn't be trusted with it, they won't roleplay and just use the faction as an excuse to shoot up everyone and everyone.

I'm showing a little bit of ignorance here, and my relatively newbishness on the server - but I'm really curious as to how the keepers actually work.. by that i mean.. What is their Role Play???? . Keepers don't actually seem to speak to anyone else (or maybe my chars just haven't been spoken to) and my only experience of them in game has been to be pwned in battles with big nasty nomad ships and other strange looking vessels... there were no *telepathic* messages, or... anything? I mean no offence to Treewyrm, who i don't know but who seems to take the faction quite seriously (fair enough if it's the child of your labour!) - but as i said, my only experience of this faction has been being pounced upon in PVP .... and how is that different from everyone else who is running around PVP'ing?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking you guys, only questioning how it works...., i know im probably missing half the picture, and im sure the keepers are engaged in some in group RP on their own.. or.. something, there probably are nomad "spies" running around Sirius.. i know the faction has written on the forums - but im just really curious to see an in game demonstration of the Role play - I know the nomads are supposed to be secretive and all but.....

Here's the thing - i really like Rp'ing, i think i do an ok job at it. I almost always stay in Character in game (unless someone ooc's me first, or needs help or does something against the rules - actually, even then, i will say those things in character sometimes). I Try to stay true to who i envisage my characters to be ( 3 of them are pretty distinct.. and different).

That being said, i would be in NO HURRY to RP a nomad or a wild... i reckon you have to be worthy of an academy award to pull it off well and NOT just be PVP'ing everyone who shoots up a nomad NPC or going around seeking "vengeance" on those who harmed your kind............

Laowai, you have to find means to communicate with them, we are not obligated to speak to every single person out there. A lot of players have found way and are communicated with Keepers from time to time, but not too often. We are aren't really talking much, a person needs to have something intriguing for them to talk about, a good reason. Going with threats towards them in-game ain't going do much. You cannot demand a conversation with Nomads just because you feel like you want to talk. Nomads must be interested in conversation as well, otherwise they'll just ignore it and go on with their duty. That being said, don't expect us to tell fairy tales and riddles while being shot by everything within the radius. If you are the enemy, if you are harming nomad NPCs, then I'm afraid we have nothing to talk about at all, we will just keep doing our job. If you want to talk - find means to, find approach, it's not that easy and never was supposed to be. You have to prove to be capable roleplayer on your own. I might even say that one person has traveled through Omicron 99, was encountered by us and was left alive. How? Find out that, even such things possible. I was surprised myself and I applaud that smart person for finding out that, it just shows that our roleplay works and people can work with it, if, and only if, they want to and go extra length for that. We take care of roleplay and require others to do so as well. You have to make step first to start conversation, we don't, remember, Nomads don't like humans for their own reasons, and normally don't feel like talking to them. The answers, the examples are all around here in roleplay stories, logs and more...

ok fair point... i do have a char that would try.. it would be in RP for him to do so.. my others, just wanna kill them:)however....

I'm not in the faction, so i don't know what happens behind closed doors - but again today, 3 nomad Cap ships jump into Omicron Gamma , and Pwn the living hell out of anyone that moves to intercept them... now there is a catch 22 here, because the keepers can just say that they were responding to being attacked ( and that may well be true, i don't know who fired first i wasn't there) but equally the corsairs can say that they only scrambled to defend themselves because in every encounter they've had with a keeper, they get snapped in PVP by keepers in Cap ships... ( yeah i am only speaking from my own personal in game experience here, i don't know what anyone else thinks or experiences)

The keepers are a mysterious faction, sure, i get it, they are alien and they don't like humans as well, i get that - and there are some cool stories on the forums about the nomads, which are great and I've enjoyed reading them and learning about the background thats been built around the nomads... great, but Role play in game? like i said, perhaps it's just me, no offence meant; but i haven't seen it. All I've seen personally is a whole lot of good old fashioned " pew pew time" (to steal someone else's quote)

Couldn't it even be just a little fun to even slightly involve the other players on the server that aren't keepers in some kind of RP with you guys, BEFORE you set upon them with Cap ships? - for example - Couldn't someone pick up even a FRAGMENT of "telepathic" communication, lets say even by accident - so that at least, perhaps, other people can see that there is some RP going on, a hint of the REASON why they are about to get slammed - and not just a whole lot of PVP.. which, seriously in every encounter ANY of my characters have had with keepers is all that happens... they show up and pwn the living hell out of everything around them

I know the keepers are behind the 8 ball because 9 times out of 10 they will get attacked by other players, but i am SURE there are players out there who would hold back on the "fire" button out of sheer curiosity, their characters wondering "who are these things?"

Sure nomads don't like humans.. they are hostile.. but Hey... Bounty Hunters and Corsairs hate each other and most of the my corsair character will talk to them, even if it is just to offer some kind of RP taunt about their impending death. And hell, some bounty hunter players have been almost polite before they destroyed me... at least a player knows that it's coming and perhaps why....
