You can, but the mining system will likely stay as is for 4.86 - and be tied in with playerbases come 4.87 somehow. We're not exactly done figuring out how we want to do that as a dev team, and there's more important matters to do first.

@Swallow: I manage quality control for the models, IE I take the models that modelers deliver and make sure that they can integrate with the mod properly. This usually means hardpointing and and creating a hitbox (since not every model artist knows how to do that). Recently other problems such as conflicting textures cropped up, so there's a bit of a check-and-fix flurry coming. I'm not much of an artist myself, so don't expect many models by yours truly. I'll stick to getting them to work and fixing them when they don't work.

Update:
Seeing as we'll likely do one more fix release, I've tried to take out some small bugs and requests:
- Tanto retextured in Bloody Dragon style.
- Texture fixes to the CTE shuttle and freighter
- Texture fixes to the Arrastra
- Fixed a bad asteroid model that was assigned to the Tau23 niobium fields (this was the cause of ships being able to "ghost" through asteroids).
- BHG weapons to Sheffield, Core ID to Dabadorou
- Hardpoint fixes to the Hellfire Legion fighter
- RH gunboat forward gun and transport turrets assigned to Kaarst and Bottrop
- Re-touched just about every hitbox, reducing group count and complexity. This will hopefully solve some lag issues.

also question on transport turrets type 4 model.I saw some unused mining ship turrets which after psize could fit well. Just a small note.
Also - if I had you available in skype I could hand you my Gitano replacement so you can ensure in its proper quality.

Another evening, but a productive one. I've been getting a boatload of decent models from Massdriver recently, and have been fixing them up so they can be used properly in Disco. Minor stuff - most modelers don't realise the small things such as texture names or group names in their models carry over to the CMP and will eventually cause issues if there's duplicates. (The "disappearing texture" bug is caused by this).

Still, after a few evenings we have:
- A complete replacement for the Hessian line (Snubs and battleship stays largely the same, Cruisers including the Hel change drastically, gunboat changes slightly). These ships look like one continuous shipline now, and those fugly cruiser imports can be dropped.
- A complete Outcast snub line. LF, HF, VHF and Bomber.
- A replacement for the Liberty Carrier that people so dislike.

These are all for 4.87, and will no doubt give Balance Central some testing to do, but I wager it'll all work out nicely.

That's great, but i wonder, what happened to double dildo model, was it just scrapped? I mean the somali motorboat one is nice, but it's just better fitting for something else. Say, SHF or something.

Speaking of which, did anything happen to hessian wraith? I thought it was supposed to be made into mnd-special ship. Oh, and, what about rheinland unlawful sabre? Model was also finished afaik.

No idea what you're talking about, so it probably wasn't ever provided to me (or not asked for) which means it's not on the to-do list.

There is not going to be a Hessian wraith - A Hessian wraith would not fit with the rest of the shipline. We're going to try and put some consistency in from now on on the modeling side. That Rheinland unlawful sabre (I presume you mean that Bundshuh fighter model) has an idiotically high group count in the model that was delivered to me and is unusable in it's current form. I am not going to spend hours on fixing up a single such model. I asked on the devboard who'se it was since it was quite some time ago it came my way (and was never even asked for from the devside), and I've forgotten who made the model.
