I will go on record as one who has tried pot only once in his life and that was as a kid and hated it. It was stupid then and is still. A couple of things.

Science isn't exact when it comes to the study of mentality. My son is considered mentally disabled due to sever ADHD and OCD. Some of these "experts" also labeled him as Autistic. I would dare say that over 100 mental health "experts" who have worked with my son have all had differing opinions. I called one on it once and his answer was, "mental health isn't an exact science." I know this is deviating a bit from the subject at hand but it gets to my point, "science isn't exact nor is it always right."

As for pot. If you want to smoke it, that's your business. Don't:

-Do it around me.
-Don't do it on my property.
-Don't do it where the smoke drifts to my property.
-Don't let me catch you doing it with child. (for the women)
-Don't argue with me that it's not that bad.

People say it should be legalized. I say no. Why? I don't need to point out the problem with drunk driving we have here in America and probably in other countries as well. Repeat offenders are never held accountable and alcohol is legal. I can see people higher than a kite out driving who will also be repeat offenders being caught driving under the influence.
Also, the double standards that would come out of legalization annoy me. For the record, I say one standard for all and NO double standards.
If it were legalized, we would have other rules implemented such as people in the transportation industry are not allowed to smoke it......nor should they be allowed to.
Think about it. Do you want some guy fixing the airplane you're about to fly on that's flying higher than the plane goes? Do you want your bus driver seeing the oncoming car multiple times or thinking it's further away than it really is?

Taxing it is pointless. There will always be a black market for it and politicians will inflate real data to show their law worked.

Sorry but I cannot nor will I support the legalization of pot.

With all respect for your opinion doc , your traffic safety argument is invalid.
Smoking pot is allowed in my country , and we have a lower number of traffic incidents than the surrounding countries.
It is illegal to drive under influence though , and cops do check for that.

Edit : found something that surprised me. Link

Maybe but still, one death under the influence is one too many.
I've made my opinion on the matter and I'm leaving it there.

I totally agree with you on that.

And how do they check for it, exactly? Drug testing is more time consuming, and cannot be done on a routine pull-over event.

They have saliva tests for routine traffic controls introduced since last year.
Takes the same amount of time as a alcohol test.

and that is why many countries have it as illegal, cannot be easily tested in a fast reliable manner.

Plus the inherent variability of the product intake is not as easily kept track of compared with alcohol for example.

Actually, over here in Australia they do roadside drug tests. It's actually supposed a part of the stationary RBT system (where they set up shop on a main road and pull people over for random breath tests). They even keep a van onsite with a more accurate reader.

I smoked today, and had some pot brownies. I'm still rather intelligent, by all modern standards.

Granted, I don't smoke / eat often.
