Operations report

Today, Sabres 1 and 2 were deployed to Omicron Alpha to open a dialogue with the Outcasts, and tip them off as to the location of the Gallic base named "Gallic Metal Services" in Tau-23, in hopes of securing its destruction without Bretonian forces having to deploy resources we cannot afford to.

On the way we were ordered to stop and secure the New London-Leeds Jumpgate by Admiral Charles Davis, for no readily apparent strategic reason. However, as we were already on assignment from Admiral Aleski - who is, as Davis, an Admiral as well as our direct superior, we disregarded his command. In addition, when inquired about his position, Admiral Davis failed to comply - apparently, if his report is to be believed, due to the fact that we are 5th fleet and not 2nd fleet personnel.

When he in turn asked us about our mission, we too did not comply - much for the same reasons as those given by Admiral Davis.

If we are expected to cooperate with all other elements, then we should like to see the same courtesy extended to us in return.

Thus, we proceeded into the Taus and eventually Omicron Alpha without much trouble, where, luckily, there were more than a few Outcasts present to hear of the information we were sent to provide.

They seemed very interested in the news, and the possibility of an assault were brought up pretty much immediately. We were told the information would be brought to their Dons as soon as possible - in addition, we took one of their capital ships on a guided tour of sorts to the base - which, mind, is still sitting outside of the Tau-23 asteroid fields, largely undefended.

On our return trip back to London, we encountered a lone corsair fighter, who, when asked to stop, instead immediately started dropping mines and taking evasive action - we promptly destroyed it.

Immediately afterwards we were approached by a Molly of all things, who proposed negotiations for assistance against the Gauls and cessation of attacks on Bretonian assets. In return he wanted free leave for his cargo vessels to move around Bretonia for the purposes of shipping legal goods, as well as the bounty on his head being called off.

In a gesture of good faith, he provided us with an ample amount of Nomad mines, which we took to R&D immediately upon landing.

As is procedure, this matter should be brought to the attention of the Admiralty - which is what we told Mister Arctorius upon the cessation of our talks.

That is all.

Operations report -- Declassified

The Sabres have been operational for little more than a week, and with the various operations that we've conducted as of late, all of them have gone exceptionally well. Out of these sorties, we've yet to lose a single ship to combat.

With that said, I'd like to make a brief report about a recently missing Gunboat. A Bretonian Gunboat by the name 'Mandy' was originally found in Kusari, and was reported directly to one of our own officers, Commander Wayne Johnson.

Upon receiving this information, we were dispatched into the region to hunt down the vessel in question and bring it home by any means necessary. It was clear that we would be breaking the unsteady peace we had with the Kusari Republic should we be caught operating discretely in their space.

The target was initially located in Liberty, where we presued it through Keplar and into Shikoku. Prior to us jumping, I had personally hailed a Kusari Naval Officer about our presence in Kusari proper, shortly after we were given the green light.

With aid of this Kusari officer, the operation took two minutes. It turned out the vessel in question was not a Bretonian Gunboat, but a Rheinland transport. Three minutes into the operation, we had additional Kusari forces on top of us - and they weren't exactly friendly.

In an attempt to avoid a diplomatic incident, or a firefight, I explained the situation and why their High Command wasn't informed about a foreign military squadron being deployed to Kusari. One of the Officers happened to listen, the other... was absolutely stubborn.

Thankfully, we were escorted out of Kusari.

I'd like to request that our Admiralty issue orders not to trust intelligence from foreign military assets until we can back it up ourselves, to avoid such a careless mistake in the future.

On the other hand, a contact in the black market stumbled across a Bretonian Gunboat... and it has just been returned to Southampton.

Good evening.

Sabre-Actual here. I wanted to address a few points with you all.

1) Excellent work out there. In the very short life of the SAD, we've accomplished more than months worth of BIS intelligence gathering. This is irrevocable evidence of our necessity in the war effort.
2) If a superior officer of the Armed Forces asks any of you for details regarding an assignment or tasking, refer them to me directly. I have the adequate security clearance to divulge details regarding our operations. Tell them nothing more, other than "Refer to Admiral Deneth Aleski".
3) I wish to remind you that there are only two individuals in Bretonia to whom you are accountable: Me and the Fleet Admiral. If the Fleet Admiral needs anything, he will get it from me. I need you all to focus on your assignments only. Logistics is my responsibility.
4) I will issue permanent orders as well as tactical priorities within the next 24 hours. It'll be quite the "must-read".
5) Sabre-1, I take note of your recommendation.

I have nothing more to add. Carry on.

Permanent orders

Good day pilots.

Sabre-Actual here. Effective immediately, those will be the new permanent orders of the Special Assignment and Deployment Squadron.

1) Disrupt Royalist Gallic trade, movement of materials and operations whenever and wherever possible. Notwithstanding an overriding assignment issued by me or the Fleet Admiral, this will be Top Priority. Special consideration to be given to Gallic trade and movement of materials in the Tau systems. For operations in Kusari, request permission from me first. For Tau operations, my approval is not necessary. After attacking traders, destroy all materials that cannot be brought back to Bretonia. Kill downed traders if they eject. In the event of engagements with Gallic Royal Navy pilots, recover the highest-ranked pilot of the squadron. Destroy the ejection pods of any other downed pilot.

2) Gather evidence of Sirian corporations supplying Gallia. By "Sirian", I mean any corporation incorporated in any of the major Houses (Liberty, Bretonia, Kusari, Rheinland and independent corporations alike).

3) Intensify anti-Corsair efforts within Bretonia. Notwithstanding order #1 and 2, this is Priority #2. Destroy Corsair assets whenever and wherever possible. Kill all ejected pilots.

4) Establish formal communications links with factions that share our anti-Gallia and anti-Corsair diplomacy. Do not worry about their lawful status in their respective House.

5) Reinforce local combat assets within Bretonia.

6) Any specific assignment issued by me or the Fleet Admiral that does not fit into the 5 previous orders. This is Last Priority.

The actions of this unit must reflect these 5 permanent orders. All pilots confirm acknowledgement of these orders.

That's it for now. Carry on.

Operational Discipline
Outside of Bretonian Space -- Classified

We have recently received standing orders from Sabre Actual, which means we will begin conducting more operations and sorties outside of Bretonia proper. This will outline how I want my pilots to act when we are deployed.

1.) Communication Discipline; Every time we leave Bretonian space, we are to maintain radio silence within local and system wide channels. The only exception to this is if we are engaged by hostile forces, or need to engage hostile forces. Pilots can speak freely within Group channels unless otherwise stated by Admiral Aleski, Admiral Piett, or myself.

In the event that we are hailed by local law enforcement or military... Sabre-2 will deal with speaking with them. In the event that Sabre-2 is not present, I will deal with them myself.

2.) Combat Discipline; I will not lie. We will be engaged, or fall into engagements with hostile forces where ever we turn. We're combat pilots and it's our job. During a combat engagement, one person is assigned to give orders, and one is assigned to give targets. All Sabres are allowed to give suggestions for targets, and unless otherwise stated, are to follow targeting orders.

During combat, I will be given targeting orders and general orders. In the event that I am not around, or am busy, Sabre-3 is to call targets.

3.) Travel Discipline; While we're operating we will have two forms of travel, trade lane - and open space - this means we will have two formations to use.

While traveling by tradelane, Sabre-2 will be point, Sabre-3 and Sabre-4 will be middle, and I will be rear guard. This formation is also to be used when we're providing escort.

While flying by open space, we will keep a diamond formation of at least 2.4 clicks away from all pilots (this of course depends on the environment of space we're in, the formation will be tighter in nebulae and asteroid fields) Sabre-2 will be point, Sabre-4 and Sabre-3 will be Right and Left, and I will once more be rear guard.

Recently, Sabre's One, Two, and Three were deployed deep into Gallic territory as an impromptu recon mission to gather intelligence on localized Gallic forces. Prior to leaving Leeds we linked up with Colonel Giroux of the Council where he led us through the following systems: Tau-31, Tau-23, Tau-37, Omicron Alpha, Omicron-80, Lorraine, Champagne, Artois, Picardy, Ile-De-France, Maine, Anjou, Touraine, Auvergne, and Provence.

Between these systems Two and I gathered recon images of local stations. On top of that, we encountered localized rookie patrols, of whom, were quickly dispatched of - both from their ships and escape pods.

An important note to point out is that during our recon, we came across a planet known as Planet Angers which had a Royal Navy Valor in orbit of it. Colonel Giroux informed us that this planet is primarily used as training facility for soldiers and pilots.

Further more, we received various information on Council and unlawful outposts that can be used as staging grounds for future recon missions into the various systems. Colonel Giroux was more than helpful in this matter, and while he can't view these messages, I'd like to extend my thanks for his assistance.

Recon images located below.

Amendment;

I'd like to pass on word that the Council wishes to speak with our High Command.

Good day pilots.

Excellent reconnaissance work. This intel will prove to be highly valuable.

I'll see what I can do about the Council wanting to speak to HC.

Carry on.

Light's Out.

Admiral Aleski,

As you may or may not be aware of, one of our pilots has recently gone missing. Sabre-Three. We can presume that she's been captured by the enemy forces. Due to this, any further Sabre operations would risk compromising her safety, as well as the safety of the other pilots within the Squadron. Further information that leads me to believe that she's been captured has been forwarded privately to your personal computer.

As such, I'm personally requesting protocol 0361-23 be activated.
