i don t know what stereotype the red hessians are about. - i mean stereotype in a positive way - something that makes it easier for a player to get into roleplaying them. corsairs are easy, they are stereotype caribean pirates; outcasts are stereotype drug barons.... hessians as the next largest faction and don t be anything stereotype.
they do have a fairly large ZoI - but strong enemies, too. the RM is a powerful faction that works well together - so independent hessians will have a hard time to work in rheinland, omega-15 isn t really swarming with battlecruisers - but even if it did - at least there is a reason for it..... thats where the guild builds their capital warships. corsairs are plenty, too plentyful maybe and the allies, outcasts, are far away.
from a point of view of doing a successful living by piracy and terror... the hessians have a hard time. - besides, what is their ambition - whats their cause... i don t know much about them, to be honest.
another thing is - do traders actually take the dresden route? or do they buy / sell in new berlin - its not such a great profit, but it saves a lot of time.... and then, the only part they take in rheinland is the short and well protected part from sig-13 jh to nb. sigma-13 is not the zoi of hessians anymore.
I guess you could say that teh Cause of the Hessian's was once to free dresden from the controll of the Powerful Rheinland Corporations, but they lost sight of that goal and have now succummed to greed. They mainly attack diamond shipments, I guess to trade with other pirates (Junkers, in Sigma 13 and in Brentonia).
Maybe make a Hessian 'Illegal' diamond trade run, going from Vogtland to somewhere in Kusari or Brentonia?
The outcasts aren't the only allies of the hessians, the bundschuh are opearting in rheinland too and the mollys and even the BD / GC as allies of the outcasts aren't so far away. A strong alliance beetwen them could change a lot.
Yeah, especially since we tend to get spammed by every lawful and Corsair in Rheinland...that's why I hate going to New Berlin, and try not to stay in one place too long. Bundschuh are a small group, and will probably never have a faction, unfortunately. Ditto LWB. Mollies...we only really interact with them in the Omegas, which I've never seen them visit in force. Been talking some with Hyperion about a possible joint operation vs. Corsairs there sometime, though.
Quote:While the typical Red Hessian is reviled as a pirate or brigand with nothing but personal gain in mind, the leaders of the Red Hessian Army (RHA) have not lost sight of their goals: resisting the corporate oppression of Daumann and Kruger, implementing their views on society and government, becoming a recognized nation to challenge both the encroaching Corsairs and ever-oppressive Rheinland.
So, in essence, they're just trying to survive out there in the big sector and get their name recognized. In Freelancer they're not much different from the Corsairs, and we've got a bunch of idealistic factions around. BUT, I've seen their ships in play and they're beautiful. Plus they've got some interesting roleplay around Omega 5 ...
Dag, this makes me want to join them now...
No! I must ... resist ... Cardimine! ...
Seriously though, I've got other factions that I need to play more. Good luck with this Lancer.
"The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace. The foundations of the Mansion House hotel stuck up above the ground. The stone was chipped and split by the fire. It was all that was left of the town of Seney. Even the surface had been burned off the ground.
Nick looked at the burned-over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there."
Lancer, I accualy really like the RHA, I wish it were more active. I would join up except for one main thing. I am TBH and dont know if I would be able to keep everything seperated the way I should. I accualt try to keep my Chars on the same side of the fence. I only have t RP chars going right now, Ze'ev Barak and Miguel Sephardi. I have accually been thinking of starting another Char, but as I said am a little hesitant to go away from the Corsair/FA/Hogoshu/Gaians/Order/IMG side of things. I do wish the RHA was more active if for no reason more than it would give me a reason to station my LF at Cadiz or Leon. Ask the TBH guys, I've been dying to get more active in the Omegas.
What indeed is wrong with the RHA? Guys, three weeks ago the faction suddenly went quiet. I've only ever seen three of you online since then, and rarely on at one time too. We had a few timeslots to battle RM scheduled, but we missed them all so far due to us not attending in numbers enough to even challenge the RM to a fair fight. What's up, and when will the faction start being really active again?:P
