You have a Scorpion? :|

At least you feel with us Cheesie, I want the rainbow back.

You try different things. If your sneak fails, you try ambushes.
if you get any good at ambushes, you learn that you win by overwhelming force.
Sadly thats where ingame Noming fails, you cant really ambush someone that can see you as a big red 'I KILL YOU' from a distance of 14k, they either run away or just call the bigger force. If you try to ambush someone at a Jumphole or gate people cry at you for metagaming and at least for the gate its not really perfect RP.
Nomad cloaks would be pretty cool, but they couldnt be balanced for all that OPnes the purple gun color creates.

Personally I would like to see all the Nomad stuff be a lot more powerful, I want them to be a threat, or more of one. I know people will say oh well they are too weak to fight humans head to head so they made humans fight each other. When Nomads appear in space I want people to cry and run away instead of call the gank squad.
Which is exactly what those of us who are part of the K'Hara have been saying, ever since 4.86 came out. The Nomad ships USED to be something to be feared, and actually NEEDED the gank squad to destroy them. Now ... no way. And the Irra is basically the same as the Bullhead, since those both have the good thrusters, it's just that most people don't see a Bullhead. (BHG Battlecruiser, for those of you who don't fly it.)
But let's look at gun and ship stats as they are now, just to see:
Nom Ftr - 9,800 HP, 60 bots/bats, 12,400 power
Wraith - 11,500 HP, 67 bots/bats, 12,400 power
Manta - 10,600 HP, 65 bots/bats, 12,400 power
Nammu - 125,000 HP, 450 bots/bats, 600,000 power
Imperator - 125,000 HP, 380 bots/bats, 600,000 power
Bret GB - 155,000 HP, 450 bots/bats, 600,000 power
Irra - 375,000 HP, 750 bots/bats, 2.25 mil power
Bullhead - 405,000 HP, 900 bots/bats, 3.6 mil power
Praefect - 330,000 HP, 825 bots/bats, 2.25 mil power
Marduk - 1.65 mil HP, 2200 bots/bats, 9 mil power
Valor - 1.35 mil HP, 1700 bots/bats, 9 mil power
Nephilim - 1.5 mil HP, 2100 bots/bats, 9 mil power
Okay, their ships don't appear to be too overpower, what about their guns?
Hmmm - the feared Nomad Singularity Cannon - that shoots out small black holes - does the same damage as every other SNAC in the game, 132,000 / 66,000. That's not OP.
The Nomad Type III Laser, a class 10 gun, does 1020 / 510 for 231 power. The Liberty Magna Hammer V does 1010 / 505 for 195 power. Both have refire rates of 2. Bomber energy cannons do 938 / 469 for 169 power, and refire at 4. All those ONYX that people ignore, because for code weapons they're light? Those do 1085 / 542.50 for 238 power.
The biggest gun in the Nomad arsenal is basically a Heavy Trebuchet - 5.5 mil vs 5.4 mil damage, or Heavy Mortar - 5.2 mil. The Nomad gunboat forward gun has the exact same stats as the Bret gunboat forward gun. And 1 gun with 5 turrets is a lot worse than 1 gun and 7 turrets.
Nomads are SUPPOSED to be the boogieman that makes you crap your pants when they show up. They're SUPPOSED to be able to pop up in space and REQUIRE a gank squad to take them out - if the gank squad could do so. TWO Nomad ships showing up in space should be notice that a fleet needs to be called out. Instead, because people whine, bitch, moan, and complain about balance and fairness, the Nomad ships have continually been nerfed and hosed until they're nothing more than a joke now. (I know - my Irra has been killed a LOT - and last time was by two gunboats and two bombers. I know I suck at PvP, but still...)

well, nice list - its incomplete though - you missed a few crucial aspects about guns and ships ( like projectile speed, range and arcs and slipping a battlecruiser into the cruiser comparison ) but thats irrelevant. - ships are - like i wrote before - well at the top of the line and by no means too weak.
is what you say : "in order to be able to RP the big bad evil, we must be blessed with gear that makes it easier for us to threaten and win pvp compared to other factions"?
if balance is a baseline - any strength is countered by a weakness to keep the balance. - would you agree that you should have a weakness ( and don t give me that stuff about "we are red is dead and outnumbered all the time" - that applies to quite a lot of factions in their respected ZoI )
there are also other factions that may claim - according to vanilla lore - to have some traits. should they get those, too?
if not - why not.
edit: no need to answer to that.... - there were enough reasons we decided to nerf the nomad gear sufficiently in 4.86 - enough good reasons. - and like i also said before - a nerf from something godlike to bring it down to "still very good" is hardly a reason to demand more or complain.
is it really so hard to be happy with what you have ( which is still very good ) and play along? many a factions have a lot worse - and i NEVER see them demand anything more. ( or subtly state how their RP is hurt by the poor choices and gear they have )

I suspect people whined and moaned about the Nomad players trolling in their mega ships of doom instead. If the power hadnt been abused, nobody would have asked for it to be removed, right?

As Vrabcek pointed out - that's how Nomads are SUPPOSED to be. Mean, nasty, and quite capable of sending in one ship to kick the butts on 3 or 4 others - NOT some balanced ship that gives anyone with slightly more skill at PvP than average (or below average in my case) the chance to go, wow, that was easy, what's so scary about the Nomads?
And that LAST comment is the key - what's so scary about the Nomads? Now, not a damn thing. You know, you guys whined about them being super powerful, whined about not being allowed into the group, and did you ever think that perhaps there was a REASON behind all that? Now the dev team has castrated the Nomad ships and we (Nomads) are saying we're willing to let you in - now you're whining that there's no reason for you to belong, because the ships aren't that special anymore. Congratulations, perhaps next time you'll not mess with what a faction that's private does for just that reason - you've basically destroyed the Nomads. <applause>
(No, I realize that we can still infect Charles and take over Gallia, giving us a whole new series of ships, because we're still outnumbered by the humans in Sirius. But that's not the point - the point is that we should never been put in this situation in the first place. If you're going to create a monster (or Mon'star) - hey, what makes Freddie or Jason so scary? Tough to kill, and some 12 year old furry female admiral can't just walk up and blow them away, right?
