A small reminder. Not all discovery players are people in their teens. They do not have all day to play the game. Some have only a hour or more before bed to get on and play with their friends. This is something that is always left out when it comes to money income.

Not all players can have this game as a second job. Please consider it.

Even if you're Kaze or Josia you can't be on par with trading even on a 1000 cargo ship, lol. Also the trends are not going along with effective money making via pirating\mercing. Especially for small mercenary groups and individual hunters\mercs. There are not many snubs around to pew with (and it's not fact they will accept a duel at all, lol) and for pewing with GBs or caps you need to have at least a GB yourself which is a fair investment so it can't be viewed as a good starting business. Part taking in lolraids is the only valid way to make okaish cash with merc\hunter. Or ganking random people, it works as well.

Tell that to the Blizzard so they'll make you level up in wow into the top level in a matter of hour or two because not everyone have a time to invest into the game, lol.

Anyway the goal must be far and shouldn't be reachable fast. People who have no much time can play snubcrafts. The discovery mod have all variations of ships of all classes for all budges, so it's not only about big-bad-ass-capital-ships.

I can find you a guy who plays 15 mins\week so, following this logic, I'll be asking to buff trading because he can't have his cap8 dread fast enough.

Blizard's wow is a subscription based game. They make money on the time spent by players to reach level 80 or whatever the level is now.

Discovery is not and I suggest you do not use such comparison's in the future.

Point is, the RP evolves around money, what ship you feel is best for your RP and while anyone an buy a fighter for 2 mil and have fun, we must take into account that pvp is the major part of the gaming experience on Disco, so that is where the rest of the 22 millions go into.

Point is, discovery is too dependent on the time you spent ingame. Perhaps I would be doing well in a transport for my RP, but sorry, I need to grind up the money for it first. Unless I have a couple of hours I want to waste on pixel ships, I really have to choose between good RP and powertrading/mining.



In my own position, I have the rare awesome case that I have time for both my jobs and Freelancer as well. Others do not.

So you claim flying a cargo ship is a time waste?
You can only RP on a military ship?
For the sake of good gameplay, we need both traders and military ships.
I think no matter how little time you have for FL, spending 20-30% of it on trading (mining, smuggling) won't do any bad.
I really doubt it's a problem for anyone to purchase and maintain a fighter, bomber or freighter.
Wanna "RP" on something bigger? Trade a little, you'll get your dread in a couple of weeks/months.
Or ask your buddy to share it. That's the way most factions and reasonable buddies do.

Maybe earning cash is too easy. Dunno.
Want more traders in space to shoot?
I've another option for ya. Add CAU IX in 4.87. Like.. 4.05 multiplyer, 2 bil worth. ))))

i think trading and mission-grinding (for some factions) should have 25% of profits shaved off.

that way the newbies won't be flying dreads after having played a week or two, and the reward for cooperative mining efforts would be that much bigger than regular trading. That would boost piracy, and encourage the non-tradelane sort of piracy too.

Because of IMG's diplomacy it should have lower bonuses than house corporations, because house corporations have industrial and technological knowledge and backing of entire Houses to develop efficient mass-scale mining methods, something what small non-profit organisation is incapable of, because IMG mines low-yield fields that house corporations do not deem economically viable, because IMG has both good diplomacy AND same bonuses as house factions, what caused it's pointless to play as house miner now, house mining factions are dying.

Pavel had no idea how unequal competition between house miners and IMG is, and only recently noticed that from unknown / poorly explained reasons, IMG has same bonuses to many ores as house miners. Unfortunately Hone, that's something what also I wanted, but again, because of balance reasons, as others noticed, it's already extremally easy to make big cash here, nerfing IMG is the only real option.

Yeah but people are already reluctant enough to mine as it is, nerfing mining more, is likely to reduce server numbers. IMO I say buff non IMG mining, but increase RUNNING COSTS of ships, IE money you have to spend to fly your ships, thisl mean everyone'l have to make some money more often.

I think people are just ignorant of mining in terms of profit. Sure if the field is bad your profit is bad that said if you catch the field when the drop rate is good then you can easily make more then a 5ker can in an hours work (provided you have customers or a sell point like a POB)
