this game i expect to be the same as with battlefield 3. people who pay for expensions gain more. wich leaves it for the others unfair. As meantioned on the site already you can pay for ingame stuff. So if i want i could always have an advantage over someone else. like there is now with BF3. don't get me wrong.. i hope i am mistaken and this won't happen.

What makes you say that?

because eventually 99% of of those "space sim fans" stated at the front page of rsi website are just underage kids who only want yoba graphics + simple pew pew, and eventually that population will ruin any RP environment.

You'll always get those who want to play it their own way. But it's up to the server to set ground rules down like DISCO does, no attacking without warning e.t.c. They'll soon move on to another server they prefer instead that doesn't do that.

I know what you mean by that. You can donate money to kickstart and get a certain rank and ship reserved. Depends how much you donate really, and I'm not sure how that would affect things in multi-player?

A good example of that, watch this video (funny). He donates money and talks about what it gets him.

But that is just a marketing ploy to get people to give money which works as you can tell, but i wouldn't say you get a advantage over others, you will just have a ship instead of having to go through the process of getting money to purchase one in game, which to me would shorten gaming experience and its a good thing because people wont all be flying around in starfliers just for example, imagine a disco where everyone had starfliers

It's pretty vague how that will work really. You could be right in that they start the game with a high rank and fly a better ship than you. But I agree, that would spoil working your own way towards getting that same rank and ship through game-play.

But sooner or later others are going to catch up and have the same ship anyway, and it's no different from me coming on DISCO as a new player in a basic starter ship, while others already have a battleship. But I don't know how that will work, do they get a ship you can never get by game-play for instance? Such as a "special ship" only available through kickstart large donation?

Exactly, its just to kick start the game i think, and i know what you mean coming new into the game, luckily i had a friend who could get me out of my little starting ship

Well, as long as it works World of Tanks style, it should be fine. Spending gold in game (in WoT) doesn't give you any tangible advantages in combat, it just helps you progress faster. The company gets their cash and no one complains about pay to win. Win - win.

There is still a difference, if you work yourself up a swanky new Constellation and then get blown up without insurance, you lose it. People that pledged get free lifetime insurance for their ships. So they never lose them on death.

^That sounds super lame...

I'm starting to lose my faith already; the ridiculously slow combat footage on youtube bored me half to death just by watching it. I think EVE is the way to go for space nerds. They've got RP too.

I heard something about that also, but wasn't sure. Also something about only having so many lives and then your character is dead. Although, I'm not sure about that either, just something I read somewhere. But if your right, then that does give those a distinct advantage getting the ship through kickstart with an unlimited lifetime policy to keep it.

"Click and Go too" type game, I tried EVE years ago and didn't know it was that type of game, where you don't actually fly anything in combat - boring!
