Ah well... it's easy to whine and point fingers at trucks... But did any of you ever consider the fact that without trucks you could say bye bye to your luxurious way of life?
I will not deny that there are some real cowboys driving trucks out there, but that's just a small number compared to the majority of drivers who do their job without flaws.
And yes, I know no one is perfect and a truckdriver also makes mistakes. Example: A designer in a factory that makes coffee machines designs a new model, this new coffee machine goes in mass production but each and every one of them has a design flaw and they can't be sold. Sure the guy might get fired but it ends there and no one will ever know about it.
But when a truck driver makes a mistake and his truck ends up in a ditch next to the road, it will be on every news broadcast and in every paper.
I am on the road with my truck every day and I can tell each and every one of you that I could do at least 4 accidents a day because of a car driver who cuts me off or suddenly hits the brakes while they're in front of me.

Yours sincerely, a responsible young truckdriver.
Very well said.
Ever notice there can be 30 car accidents in a day that do not make news, but 1 truck is involved, and it is front page?
As to good bye to "luxurious way of life?" say good bye to everything. There is not 1 household item that is not delivered/transported by a truck to where you purchase it.
It's not about the physics or economic realities of truck driving, Ryoken, it's your "I couldn't give a f**k" attitude about people killed when your 18 wheels run over the them. Ok so you claim the whole "0 responsibility, 0 guilt" philosophy.. But you began this whole tirade by posting pics of cars mutilated in such ways that the driver's death was assured, with the prideful statement that people who cross you on the highway end up like this, in a fashion that any reasonable person would describe as sociopathic. Seriously, what is your problem.
And as for the fanboys... come back when you have drivers licenses.

Willing to bet I've had my licence longer than you have. (Because I am older.)
Does not mean much though. An understanding of the road rules is based on both theoretical and practical understanding, and some people who have been driving for eons have no understanding of either.

I know Ryoken, but I wish everyone would be able to see it that way... I guess it's easy to point the finger at someone else. A collegeau of mine once came up with a philosophy that went something like this: "If the consumer goes to the store and his goods aren't there, he rages that the delivery is overdue. So suppliers start giving penalties to the transporters that don't deliver in time... So transporters have to deliver faster even though they are speed limited and have no control over traffic jams and what so ever. A trucker on his way to the store is involved in an accident and the same consumer points the finger at the trucker. But shouldn't he be pointing it at himself?"

You have to be a real psycho if you don't give a frak if you run over someone... The fact is that people ALWAYS point the finger at the truckdriver whenever something happens. A while ago a collegeau of mine had to deal with a jumper when he passed underneath a bridge. There was no way he could have avoided to hit that girl since she jumped right in front of his truck. He can't be blamed for anything but yet he feels guilty and still there are people who have to make his life more miserable and call him a murderer.
Another example, 2 weeks ago a buddy of mine was driving on a road in France that had 1 lane in each direction. The car that came from the other direction suddenly went out of his lane and crashed into my buddies truck HEAD ON. Obviously the driver of the car didn't make it. And again some people point the finger at my buddy and call him a murderer.
Ok now saying i do not "give a frak" is off. Sure if some turd cuts infront of my truck i will try to not hit them, but not at the cost of myself, those around me, or even my vehicle. If that is not giving a frak? then so be it.
Now like Heraklion said above. People do stupid things, and get hurt. Back in 2002 i was coming home from work(in my car no less, a 1990 Caprice classic) on a busy 2 lanes each way street. Was rush hour, and a bus in right lane stopped, i was passing it in second lane when a guy run out from infront of bus, into the front of my car.60KPH no chance to stop, oncoming lane had a minivan with mother, and 4 kids(which i found out after,as they were witnesses). So i locked brakes, but still hit him.He flew 30 feet, and landed on face. Now to say i was not feeling bad i hit him would be wrong. I did feel horrible, but i knew it was not my fault, and i did all i could. The 2 things that really got to me with that situation was 1/ the bus driver then freaked that i just ruined traffic for next few hours because i hit him,not because he was hurt. and 2/ the idiot tried to sue me for 3.5 million over the next 5 years, and failed as all witnesses said flat out it was his fault, not mine.
So when i say i will not feel guilty for fools doing stupid things? Well i got my reasons. I may feel bad for them, but not guilty unless I do something to cause the accident.
Now think if this same fool did this with a truck/bus coming, and not my car? He lived. Against bigger maybe not. Or even if i had swerved, and hit that minivan head on.May have hurt, or even killed a child because a fool jay walked with no regard to traffic.
