I Lore Play more than I Role Play.

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.

Faction RP? A term you made up, perhaps?

To gauge the nature of faction behavior, you need to look into "Lore playing", which is where a person, or group of people, act in a specific manner because it's how the story at large has them cast as acting.

There is nothing anywhere however, that demands that two Navy characters, act in the same manner when confronted with their "duties".

There is nothing anywhere that demands that two pirate characters act in the same manner when conducting piracy.

There is nothing that demands that two Zoners act the same either.

You cannot look into faction affairs as an outsider, and start demanding that they act the way -you- want them to. It doesn't work that way.

I'm starting to get the feeling you have a specific issue here though, McTemka. Something maybe happened to you in game?

Instead of making this whole convoluted thread where you split hairs and pick things apart, why don't you confront who -- or whatever you have an issue with directly?

Ye ye. I made this term myself because I never heard real one. Well, okay. Lore play.

Yes, there's no need for two different characters to be exact copy of each other, but two navy officers should hunt hostiles around their teritory. Am I right? Their actions, their way of thought is different, but it dirrected to annihilation of enemy, right? Then question is, what do you do when navy don't do that? When they know that there's enemy, iRP, but they ignore it?

From an inRP perspective purely, the "Liberty Navy" has a couple million soldiers/sailors and pilots, just because you see one sitting in a single location doesn't mean there aren't others elsewhere, if you're talking purely inRP perspective.

Apart from that, no, Navy -players- can't be everywhere at once. You of all people should know this, I know you've played as a Liberty Lawful for plenty of time.

It's a bit hard to focus entirely on "Annihilation of the enemy", when you have LR-, Reavers, LH, Outcast lolboats, Xenos, RNC, BDM, MND, VR, and until recently [HF], trying to KILL YOU day in and day out.

If you want to make it like that...Where's the LPI- ? where's the =LSF=?

The [LN] and the indie groups SFC|, LN-, LNS- bare the brunt of all the crap, and yet somehow we still manage to get crapped on by everyone and their moms for "not doing your job". How does THAT make any sense? This is a game, and the people who play it should have fun. Getting ganked to hell and back everyday, with a bare minimum of substantial RP interaction is NOT, fun.

I don't know what group your issue is with specifically, McTemka, but as far as the [LN] goes, I'm happy with the way my guys act, and it's my belief that they're some of the best roleplayers left on Discovery, and I don't really care if that statement makes me biased. I watch these guys day in and day out, dealing with completely stupid situations and still managing to come back, and for the most part stay above it, and stay in character on top of it.

If my guys want to take a break from being noRP-engaged or ganked to hell for a bit and have simple non-violent RP interactions, or if they don't want to fly from say...Colorado to Magellan, to chase a pirate who won't even be there by the time they get there anyway, then I certainly won't hold that against them.

Character development and storytelling are far more interesting and worthwhile to many people here on Disco, than chasing morons around all everyday only to have them whip out an absurd amount of ships and crush your group.

Of course, you didn't specify if you meant [LN] or indies when you said Navy, so I'm just assuming. If you didn't mean the [LN], then fine, forget what I said...but if you did, well, there you have it then.

It ain't blue message hunting that's kept me on Discovery since 2008, it's Roleplaying and storytelling, if there isn't that, it isn't fun.

This game is ten years old. If I want to play a game where I can just blow things up, I'd go play War Thunder or Planetside. The graphics are better. LOL.

Well, I guess you realised what case I mean right now? I can't say that you was busy so much, in the system you ran to, there was nothing to do at all. Nothing important at least.

Well, okay, not the point of the discussion. The thing I wanna ask you people is... What would you put forward, lore play, or private RP? And what would you actually prefer?

I'm actually -not- sure what specific instance you're referring to, AND, I really don't have to justify the actions of myself, or my faction, to you.

It is the Liberty Navy [LN]'s responsibility to push Liberty Navy story related projects forward, and give direction and purpose to the things happening in Liberty, this is not accomplished solely through shooting at things, this is accomplished through Roleplay interaction and storytelling, diplomacy, negotiation, conversation.

What you might see as "Private Roleplay" may actually be something that will have an effect on our part in the "story" of Disco later on down the road.

As I said before, as an outsider looking in, you don't have full context, or a full understanding of things that we're doing.

No, wait. I was in [LN] for a month or two. Failed to see any proper movement there... but whatever. Guess I got the picture now.

Yes, you were in the [LN], I'm aware, you left for whatever reason.

Even though you were in the [LN], I bet you still can't tell me about our involvement in Bretonia, or our backroom dealings with the VWA, or the "Normandie Battlegroup", or the information we gained from Lelouch D'Aramis, a GRN intelligence officer who deserted his post.

I bet you can't tell me about the semi-neutrality that exists between the Order and the Liberty Navy, eiher.

I bet you can't tell me about the ESRD subdivision or what they do, I bet you can't tell me about the Diamondback Initiative or their Operation Spring Harvest.

Those are all things that [LN] members have had a part in, and they are all things that stand to improve or enrich the state of Faction Roleplay or diplomatic standing. Those are not "Personal Roleplay" scenarios, as you termed them.

Shooting things is not what drives story development on Discovery Freelancer.
