I have a small proposal.
Perhaps we should test this elsewhere? From the screens and this thread in general, it seems this has only happend in Liberty.
Thus, such actions like this are to expected. Before. 87, [AI] had a very unfortunate trip to Libertonian house space which involved LNS ships opening fire on our ships with no real reason. We use escorts now.
I am not suggesting Hunters have escorts however, that would seem very un-junker-like.
As Sarah has pointed out, the LNS players are the ones not interested in RP. And I fear that even if we remove this line, it may still continue. It's only a line in an ID after all.
I suppose it's time for my Junkers to start ganging up groups of Recyclers and pirating LNS/LN ships in Bering, Galileo, Magellan, Cortez, etc.
That's in the ID after all...
See how dumb this sounds?
I thought the idea of descriptive IDs was to keep the lolwhuts who dont want to RP in line, not give them carte blanche to add lolwhuttery to their arsenals...
But hey, what do I know? I've only been playing since late '08...
Yes, you are missing the fact that junkers are not unlawfuls, yet they are shot on sight in Liberty without any proof of lawbreaking, like they shoot Rogues, Hackers, and other unlawfuls.
As things stand - I am now not entering liberty in any ship with a high value cargo - just in case the ID change means I get the ship blown up with the cargo. most other houses are safe enough.

But isn't that just semantics? I mean in the real world you are either a criminal or you are not, "quasi" to me always was a roleplay guideline more than anything that was supposed to make sense (because it cannot). I thought of Junkers as nothing more than a tolerated presence, and now it seems the Houses have decided to kick them away from the tradelanes, that seems just fine, doesn't it? I mean Junkers are not only scavengers but also parasites to the Houses they frequent (I'm talking the Vanilla junkers, not Disco powertrader junkers), it seems justified for strong-arm government officials to say gtfo.
Is it really so bad to be forced to play Junkers as truly shady with all it entails? Isn't that what gives Junkers flair?

That's the problem. Being forced to change your well established RP (that you've built over your years on Disco) because some moron thinks this is a good idea. This is worse than Dusty's fake ID that said Junkers could be forced to drop their cargo, even if it was legal cargo. Keep in mind Dusty had no love for us at that time.
Plenty of people play 'friendly' Junkers. My Junker complies with the Libertonian authorities because he's from Liberty, but elsewhere, he can be a real prick.

This is the point. Quasi-LAWFUL means you can play lawful if you want. Junker's lawful activities are scrap mining and legal cargo trading. Now these cannot be done, becasue military/police kills you even if you do lawful things. How could this be solved then?
