About unwelcoming... well, I've said it, right in space.

We're not. You're just ignorant. We do what we want, we just don't let the wrong people know.

You know, ingame I've seeing strange things. Like OSC hauling slaves in Luxury Liner. Or Zoner cap shooting NPCs.
If I've seen something this doesn't mean it actually happen inRP. And if I don't see something, this doesn't means it's not happened.
I can dock on Rochester with my LPI char, bribe bartender and he'll tell me everything about junker's activities. I can even make screens.

Uninstall Disco.

My Congress Junkers ONLY smuggle or escort smugglers.
Ever.
And I ain't alone

Sure some of our players are busy keeping bases alive, and then they travel lanes so as to fool the lawfuls.
Meanwhile I'm 30k below the plane smuggling cardamine into Manhattan or slaves out of Pittsburgh, and usually with another Congressman or two.

THATS the RP of Junkers - play nice, be bad.

the VAST majority of Congress credits have been made Barge-jumping slaves/cardi/software/blood diamonds into risky space.

If you've seen a congressman hauling legit goods, its a ruse.
Let me repeat that last bit....
If you've seen a congressman hauling legit goods, its a ruse!

Anyone who claims Congress is mostly lawful is either;
Completely fooled by the ruse
-or-
Not paying attention to the hundreds of times Congressmen have been caught - it's all in the Comm channel, folks.

I miss the old Congress. They understood subtlety.

First.. that is not how we made the vast majority of credits.
We had billions way before barge jumping.
Second.. We had to tell you about it.
We understand subtlety.

No, you really don't. You understand game mechanics.

A shipment that large would make an unmistakeable and easily traceable impact on whatever region it was delivered to. A barge of slaves... 40,000 people. They don't disappear without someone noticing. That's to say nothing of the farther-reaching effects of a shipment of drugs of that size.

But Freelancer is a simple game, and its simplicity is your defense, not your grasp of subtlety.

Oh come now...
I remember the Titan/Osiris/Legate gangs running amok all over Sirius.
And your hand in it.
This from a supposedly starving faction on a tiny handful of bases?
Simple? Game mechanics?

Yes, I was here in 4.84
Don't lecture Congress on lack of subtlety - Puh-lease.

The very fact that everyone else thinks Congress behaves lawfully is a pure sign of our grasp of the concept.

As JT said, we had to tell you we smuggle. A lot.

And, just to repeat myself...
If you've seen a congressman hauling legit goods, its a ruse!
Look around the 'Players Online' list, there's very very very likely a couple Congressmen you can't see.
Guess what THEY'RE doing...

The only Corsair I've ever played only flew a Correo, and only existed in earlyish 4.85, so I have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

Actually, I guess in the interest of honesty I should point out that I remade him recently. He's still in a Civilian Shuttle, though, and will likely stick with cargo ships if I even keep using him after the beta.

When you sell things, they don't just disappear. At least, in-RP they don't. They go somewhere.

So again, you're talking about game mechanics, not RP.

This is getting WAY off topic, Thex - but I dispute your comments, strongly.
Please tell me the difference between 12 players smuggling 3600 slaves each, over a 24 hr period, and one barge full.
Are we supposed to believe that once a certain number of something is smuggled or traded that all the players, in order to 'keep it realistic' should behave differently?
You're arguing semantics - and badly at that.

I'm sorry that you latched onto the 'barge-jumping' comment, I suppose my illustration of Congress's bad side really only managed to rankle your predisposed aversion to certain play-styles - which have been fixed by .87 anyway...

I probably should have seen it coming, but I guess I assumed a more on-focus audience. We were talking about Junker roleplay in light of a stupid new ID line on lawful ID's, I thought.
Then some snark took an uneducated poke at Congress roleplay, and I tried to explain that it was a multi-tiered thing, with legal trade on the surface and greed, corruption, and pirate facilitation at the core.
A roleplay that is essentially ruined by the new ID line.

There's about a hundred factions that any of us could call out for mechanics abuse, in all honesty.
Does it need to be here that we do this?

Yeah, I'm just going to stop arguing. Primarily because exposing the problems with adapting an arcadey space shooter to a roleplaying environment is remarkably easy, surprisingly annoying, and always tends toward making me wish players had nothing bigger than fighters and freighters.

Still curious as to who you think I was that was responsible for Corsair raids - you can PM me that one if you'd rather.

You're really complaining that we move a lot at a time? You're complaining that the NPCs might know something is up?

I suppose you want us to haul around 90% lawful cargo and 10% unlawful in the same run for the sake of subtlety? If hauling cargo like that hid the unlawful stuff from the cops, I'm sure we would fly like that, but it doesn't. You get caught with 1000 cardi, you might as well be caught with 5000.
