The Council isn't hostile to the Alliance, "sadly".
Ye but appearantly if we'd be allying with the Council, we'd be another "Kill Royalists" faction (facepalm). Supporting the Council as our first intention though, awaiting till they conquer it, anyhow, we're representing the People of Gallia, in generic. Council and GRN, means we don't engage any one of em (unless they engage us of course). So who ever wins, if council wins, the alliance with them will be of course easier than GRN. Of course is there also a mission of convincing the GRN to stop shooting at the Council too and try a diplomatic way of solving their problems (as same with the Houses).
Why would you want to make the GRN stop shooting the Council?
The Council is supposed to pew the Royalists till Gallia becomes a republic with its own Robespierre. It's the French Revolution in space, man.
My point with the Council is...you could support it so that you already have a House that supports your "project", if the Council will win against the Royalists.

Ya I know but (points at the replies) got what I mean? People think it'd be stupid to do this, allthough I realy support that idea of yours, since my first idea was exactly the same. It was our first idea imho, I've changed the concept about Gallia. Our intention is about to free the people, we'll have a representative which may speak in behave of whole gallia, but if we see the Royalists engaging the Houses, we'll have no choice but attack them.
Actually this talk about the Council kind of clicked in my head: this was exactly their goal: warn, create relations with and then unite the houses to defend against or deter Gallia's invasion.

Only because we failed to stop GRN on our own in the first place.

I don't realy think the Councils intention is to unite the houses... We had this conversation before and we clearly pointed out that Councils interest is for the people of Gallia. but they saw gallia as part of the alliance, they knew this "alliance betrayed france" is just a myth made up by the royalists to justify a useless war of aggression against two nations, and they feel gallia as a part of the alliance. So I think the Council would make more sense in this. Well as we've pointed out, we can't do much for gallia in our current state anyway, the 4 houses are the most important part and I think the Council would make a realy nice ally in order to unite the houses, even if its not their intention, they've managed to get most of the Houses neutral, it would be a start.
If for "uniting the Houses" we're speaking of just allying them with eachother, they'd surely be for it.
Of course if we're talking of a centralized government, they'd have much to say.

Umm, what information are you interested in exactly?

I've been so far viewing this "betrayal" issue from a Council point of view as something actually happened, but happened a millennia ago, and thus for that Gallia isn't actually punishing the ones at fault, but their descendants, the wrong people. Bringing up a thousand year old betrayal doesn't seem to be a valid reason to start a war against two Houses, but the Council does consider this betrayal as part of Gallic and Alliance history.
Unless the devs got anything to comment on it, this will be the case.
But then again, as much as this betrayal is of the past, so is the Alliance, the Council aims towards a free Gallic Republic and peace with other Houses, but this may not automatically mean union.
As long as you are against the Gallic Royalty and military and authorial forces financed and controlled by the Crown while you are not hostile to Council and allies of Council in this conflict, the Council welcomes any approach, be it commercial, informational or militarily cooperative.

I think I read somewhere that, after the defeat in Langedoc, the Council evacuated to Roussillon to regroup, buildup and strike again the royalists. I think it was an ingame rumor or something.
