I did my job as a member of the development team.

Now, I have a question. I have personally suffered a lot of excrement being flung at me and even more so being flung at my friends because we dared to have the balls to add a new mechanic, positivity being subjective, to the game. We don't get paid to do any of this. We get nothing out of it other than satisfaction that we're contributing to the game. Why the hell is this fair?

Should have expected it really, take it like a man. We have a saying in my country: Dogs bark while the bear calmly walks his path.

Or, you know... Devs could just say F*** it and stop modding/fixing all together, because the amount of complaining during a BETA is astronomical. How about that? They just stop, and Disco as it is now is what it is, and they just leave. Would that make you happier? Seeing Disco end because the Devs who work for free (and in their free time and do more work instead of enjoying a different game or their RL after work/school) and are working on various things in a BETA are getting so much damn flak for something that may be changed in a further update since, again, it's in BETA, and there are hardly any positive comments to what they have done?

God most people here are so unappreciative, and unwilling to be patient and see what further updates bring. No wonder Kaz is frustrated.

You've basically given a big f*** you to the community.

And you and the others have basically given several giant f*** yous to me and the rest of the dev team every time we try to do something different around here.

That's pretty pathetic.

Retired, permanently.

Then start doing the stuff that the community wants.

It's not hard to find out what.

It might not be a bad idea to test things beforehand, though.

It's feedback. Moreover, before this plugin was added in there was mass critism. I still haven't been given am answer as to why everyone was ignored.
This mass QQ from everyone could be avoided if the warming was listened to.

Implying that what the community wants is always the exact same thing, but reality is where one person likes something, another will hate it.

Now, don't get me wrong. Seeing Scanners nerfed is irritating to a degree, but also makes sense. I also am willing to be patient and see what further updates bring. Plus, since we are still in BETA, it may get reverted or changed again.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Haste:

But Finn, you can't make that statement when the minority is out balanced by the majority. If you look at my polls, the majority were against the nerfs.

MAN, THE 5% OF PEOPLE WHO VOTED YES TO HAVING NERFS MUST BE REAAAAAAL HAPPY NOW.

But with all your polls, you are assuming these changes are the final nail in the coffin, and are it. No more changes.

How many bloody times do they have to say that nothing is set in stone since we're in BETA (Do I really need to caps Beta to drive the point home?), and that I'm sure while people are playing with this new tech/ship nerf on scanners, they are looking to see the pro's and cons of such. Which is what a beta is. Implementing something, seeing how it works, and refining it.

So with Scanners, yes they are nerfed. Does that mean they will stay nerfed? No. Does that mean no new scanners will be added? No. SO while everyone is getting their panties in a twist over this, Dev's are going to see the pros and cons of this. One of the reasons for this that a lot of people fail to realize, is that a big reason for this was it was allowing people to avoid interactions and powertrade more. You may not think that it is a big deal, but it actually is. powertraders mounting those scanners so as to avoid any possible interaction and just make money, thus not contributing to any RP on the server. It was growing increasingly frequent, and needed a change.

So, i'm sure Devs and Admins will be seeing how this will affect interactions, and go from there. Make sense?

*votes yes - makes it almost 25%*

There's an important difference between doing what is the right thing, and what is the popular thing. And them doing the right thing in this case? Awesome.

When people who complain too much do exactly that and manage to get the devs/admins to change things in a way that's dumb, well, it makes the game less enjoyable. Kinda fits in with the rant Joe copy/pasted into the LN chat earlier, Luc

Anyway, nerfing the powercores on fighters with BS Scanners makes sense, because it fits that a non-strikecraft would be able to have a more powerful sensor array. I won't even mention that they're called Battleship Scanners, and not "Super-awesome-but-expensive" scanners.

What we knew yesterday, was different; and so were we."

Doesn't change the fact that they were given a warning that the implementation of the technerf would be a bad idea.

Then why do we have technerfs at all? People hate it.

That point was raised and ignored. That's why I and everyone else is annoyed.
Hell, even before the nerf the situation was better.

Hopefully, if they listen to the community for once.
