if INDY zoner caps are the problem, here is the solution that avoids all the butt-hurt qq:
independent zoner ID has powerplant nerf. Official zoner Id's do not, but their caps are restricted to systems without jumpgates, like the BHG CORE.
adv:
1. official zoners and their long-standing RP/ability to smack nomads/others not affected
2. indie zoners trolling in lolberty are softer targets
dis:
1. new ships designed by jinx are mothballed/given to another faction
2. zoner caps become much much easier to pirate, and the trolls move onto another toy. Scyllas, prolly.
You cannot legislate stupidity away, and if you try, you just create a nanny state.

I like how theres a considerable amount of QQ and nothing else. Meanwhile it doesn't seem to be of any use to offer a different idea, albeit not impossible in my opinion. It just becomes a senseless struggle when this happens.
Devs will start to keep implementing their own ideas, with no care for anyone. QQ follows. Then people might start noticing later that perhaps they should have been more constructive on feedback. Rather than this plain flame going all around the thread.
Now meanwhile I don't have a say in this much at all either, as I do not see the world through anyone elses eyes. And I also have not been here for long, I can't be bothered to post too much. But this is just too dumb, even for a normal person probably. Though debatable.
But on the other hand, the plain "monopoly" that I'm seeing is just pathetic too.
A game is meant to be enjoyed and played until it is no longer entertaining.
But to me there's yet, another point to this. Devs are free to make any change they want. (Hence the name developer.) a "community" in the end has no say to what it SHOULD be.
I'll just keep looking if anyone's smart enough to get a dev to change their mind.
Because I'm not.

We've tried talking to Devs. We've even managed to convince one of why it's such an all around bad idea, in terms of what it means for the Zoner factions. We have tried to offer alternatives. But this change is being implemented because of the actions of indies and any move to censure indies for their actions restricts their freedom. That is against policy. So we can't restrict just the freedom of the indies so get rid of everyone's toys.
We are working on a petition to the admins to get a resolution on this.
The current Aquilon is one of the best looking ships in the mod and you want to change that. The OP proposal is complete, utter crap! Battletransports and megaliners... really? Leave them as they are and limit the cap ships usage if there's such a big problem with the zoners.
If the Zoners are in need of a defensive force and somehow they can't convince Order/Core/whoever to do it, there already are possibilities to counter that. You do not need a battleship against a battleship, even in vanilla lore. 80-year-war and lots of occasions in the campaign can prove that.
Put a SNAC on an Osprey and you have your bomber. If that doesn't fit your needs, there is plenty in the civilian and borderworld shiplines to choose from.
Furthermore, the nephilim in itself is not exactly lost. It is just going to become harder to acquire, meaning you have to put effort into getting one and maintaining ownership of one. The loss of the Aquilon, however, is a different thing. It can possibly be organised to keep that model in, too and make it available via SRP too.
I'm sure if the RP of many nephilim-owners in this thread is only half as good, significant and of utter importance as they describe it to be, reacquiring it through SRP should become rather easy.
Remember that not all caps are lost though. It only affects the battleship-sized ships, which would make the Zoner a potential threat in the eyes of its neighbours and would quickly lead to delivering a first strike against the Zoners and possibly eradicating of them in a certain region.
I am quite okay with the recent change though I find that some financial compensation is due for some who get their battleships/carriers changed into transports. 50% of the original buyprice, or something along those lines.
I have a feeling most of these "die hard Zoners" defending Zoner cap ship RP are just upset they won't be able to farm nomies in 99 and sell the remains or make and sell all that fancy PoB equipment.
