Because it's more fun with them. Non-vanilla fighters are boring because they don't have the same thing.
It can make fights quite faster (with vanilla ships) if at least one side knows to use Nukes, CD's and missiles properly.
I'm interested in one thing..
What would stop that missile from blasting you to pieces as soon as you fire it? I mean, it's closer then 100m..
And even if you somehow manage to set it's activation on about 2 seconds after firing, it will go slowly at first, until it's activated.
So, it will blast you again.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
It needs a very high energy cost. Maybe like 8-11k. Also make the explosion radius a bit smaller, say about 150. Lower the damage somewhat, and then you essentially have a CD that doesn't disrupt but does a lot more damage.
