I can honestly stipulate to that, 'tis a fun, cute, and innocent word - but alas, we have e-peens (e-labia perhaps, for the females) to maintain and some diminutive terms can be construed as condescending which make the e-genitalia mad and insecure; an unfortunate, yet ever present phenomenon.

Excellent! A point we can agree upon. Yes, the game itself is broken. The Freelancer engine has severe limitations, however what some of us are trying to discuss is ways in which we might make a positive environment and community that would entice new members. Something which is hard when we're all bickering like old biddies. Now, I'm sorry if I inflamed you in any way, I just don't appreciate negativity in what is supposed to be a positive thread.

Aye, we're mostly on the same page here.

We need advertisements on some other popular web-sites,like,for example, the "War Thunder" or "World of Tanks" has. Without advertisements I'm afraid,we are unable to stop our population decreasing...

The majority of our community has been playing FL for a long time. There is no doubt that everything becomes boring one day. That's the problem Disco is facing at the moment.

Seeing only 60-80 players online at the peak time, and hardly even encountering anyone in game, really makes me wanna leave Disco or at least take a break.

I log in only when I see something interesting happening ingame(and that doesn't happen often),so does the majority. Seeing only 60-80 players online and even hardly encountering anyone ingame, makes me wanna stop myself playing FL too,but I still can control myself Smile

The mod is saving itself. It's undergoing a purification of sorts. Old, bitter, burnt out players are leaving. Disco is shrinking. And that's natural. It's sailing into a new decade after all. A new decade of fun. Let them all leave, let them carry old grudges and paradigms away!

This will give rise to a new, better Disco. A slimmer, firmer version of tightly knit communal interactions.

Stop pointing at the age. Just stop.
Disco FL is here not because it is competitive with present day space sims, but because of its spirit and all the things we enjoy (but forget about).

Once again, If we could organize just a little bit, we could bring the activity (even if partial), to any place.

Also, I must admit, that storyline is a bit too slow, and it brings boredom after all. Or there is active story development, or there is no story at all. Imagine the Sirius with no houses, factions, lores, etc. All you have is legacy tech and pre-lore, which only brings the idea of how the things were before. The point of such a thought is just to give an empty field for purely player-driven lore.
Actually, the 80 year jump in time is an iteresting idea.

FL MOD(EL)MAKING: TOOLS, RESOURCES, TUTORIALS AND MY SHIPS (OLD)

I am on discord: Roal-Yr#5994, I don't log on forum more than a few times a year.

I am not making ships for FL anymore, I am making my own space game instead:

Yes, thus more "Mini" updates would help, some to that affect as you mentioned.

And yes the 80 year jump does sound very cool Smile

I don't know, we're all getting old. Perhaps all the emphasis on its age is nothing more than a cry of an ageing player-base. I, myself, had most fun in Disco 5 years ago. 5 fucking years!

And I have a feeling that my youth will run out before I even learn how to have fun, how to...live this life! Can't anyone say that?

The same is true for Disco life. Many of us joined years ago, had most fun back then and didn't quite learn how things really work (on all levels of the community) for quite a while. But when we did learn, it was not fun any more, the mystique was gone, illusions shattered, the true bitterns of LIFE, DISCO life became clear to us.

When we point at FL's age, we point at ourselves. FL has been the same for all that time. We have changed. We grew old. Games are eternal, the world around them ages.

Seriously,is it impossible to make advertisements?

We just need newbies, people get older, and most of them gets bored with an old game.

I know it's costs money, but some people are really gonna donate money in this game in order to somehow increase its population. It has been said many times in the last couple of months.

Supposing you are right, new is not always better, it often depends on how many resources it takes to be new first. And in this case, 'resources' are developers. Whitout a new good development team to maintain and constantly bring new things, soon or later, Disco will fail.
