Ok that sounds like it may be related to the .NET framework. Were you able to properly install the framework linked in the OP?

I may haven't gotten to see yet (still browsing) but what is the build changes from 1.2 to 1.3? I have some pet peeves about 1.2 regarding widescreen support and wondering if they were fixed.

Ok I did some snooping around and it looks like the changes from 1.2 to 1.3 was embedding the manifest file so it didn't require admin rights to run on W7. On a related note, I think someone pointed out to me the about box still shows as version 1.2 in 1.3. For sure it's 1.3 though.

I have some pet peeves about 1.2 regarding widescreen support and wondering if they were fixed.

I'm not sure what widescreen issues you're referring to, to be honest. The only thing the launchpad does is launch the Freelancer.exe with the same shortcut params you can do manually (ex. -d1680x1020). I know some people have said the widescreen support for some resolutions is awful, but I believe this is a problem with Freelancer itself.

To see if it is Freelancer causing the problem, try using some regular resolutions like 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1440x900, or 1680x1020 for example and see if the problem is there for all.

LegendOfTheWolf just informed me the links aren't working anymore so after a little investigation I discovered MediaFire changed the links to Launchpad. The OP has been updated to link to the proper location. Thanks, LegendOfTheWolf.

I've also added a TL;DR part where you can just download whatever without reading or searching through all the text.
