Is Blood still around then?
I've not been here for a while but for those who posted earlier in this thread (wow..this is an old thread, no grave dig intended), the Family have pirated a Gaian Wildlife hauler for 1 parrot and some great RP.
That was possibly the best outcome and has led to...well years of RP fun on the forums (ours) so go out there and ask for weird stuff and hope their English and humour is switched on.
Piracy doesn't have to be unpleasant although always be prepared for when it does.

Incidentally, 'Bob' the ABC bot looks after Caesar the parrot at 'Ronnie B's' bar

Just a hypothetical suggestion:

What do you think of the idea of pirates perhaps pirating less often but for larger amounts?

Piracy is a funny one on Disco; it's economic viability for the pirate is poor, so as far as I can see the only reason people would choose to pirate is for the RP, bar wanting to OORP annoy someone. So that's all well and good, right?

If pirating happens less often, perhaps its RP value will increase, perhaps people will put more time and effort into the encounters, both pirate and trader. If you want to go further to lessen the aggro, I've known people who, after it was all said and done, gave the trader their cash back OORP after particularly interesting encounters. I'm not suggesting that as being something that always happens, but it's not a ludicrous option.

There is problem with pirating less often but demanding more. The one unlucky merchant will have to pay more, instead of several traders paying less, thus making one person possibly more frustrated, than several a bit annoyed over lsot profit.

Hmm, true, though hopefully that would be balanced out by the decreased chance of happening again within a given time period...unlucky is unlucky though.

I do think though that it's worth considering how much RP capital a piracy situation has if you're going to lump it on someone unsuspecting. As a rule I try and tailor my happenings in-game, not just with 'what will I get out of this?' but also 'what will he/she get out of this?' My hope is always that everyone at least comes away with something, even if their space wallets are lighter than previously.

Just make a new thread and post link to that one, if necessary.
