About that rule (Cruisers and Battleships ) , how does this fit to RP ? The Reason for this rule can only be "power" restrictions .

Someone thought it was more fair like real life oh, wait nothing like real life, oh nevermind, it a rule I have to live with and I have two ship classes I can gaf off as a result while tradeing.

Yes credits and cargo are RP elements. I'm just wondering does the community feel bound to only those props or can alternate props be use like "Trader AL if you dont give me my golf club back I'm going to make sure you die with it!!!"

The reason why capital ships cannot pirate is because of power issues. Traders, regardless of what they do, should always have a chance at escaping. As a result, their ships should more or less be even matched one on one with the pirate. As you will notice, a pirate who properly RPs and does not just say, "2 mil or die," will have a very difficult time pirating in a fighter, or even in certain situations, gunboats. The jump in firepower from gunboat to cruiser and beyond is so immense that it would be completely unfair for traders.

Yes, it's bad RP for traders to just ignore capships telling them to stop, since it is metagaming.

But think of it this way. The npc capship patrols don't bother you ingame, do they? Do Military officers of any nation ever pull you over for carrying illegal equipment/things?

No. This is not their job. It is the police's job. Typically, when you have a ship of that size, you are going to be regarded as military.

So before the trader even begins to metagame, the capship pilot should think to himself, "would I be demanding cargo, or paying attention to this bugger at all?"

To all Capship Lawful Captains,

The best thing you can do is state in system chat that "Player <insert name here> has been scanned and illegals items are confirmed on board. All fighters please intercept and destory"

You can follow him and scream away (like an anooying GF) but that is the extent of your authority on a trader.
