I'm the only one who thinks that Corsair may take this as an oportunity and captures/attempt to some bretonian territory? such thing would make them clash sooner or later with the Gallics, and i higly doubt they will meet each other in goods terms
I'm sorry. This is just ridiculous. It defeats the entire purpose of having a Bretonia all together. Its just as crazy as that Idea that the Hellfire legion and Xenos had a coup and took over liberty. And yes I remember people who wanted that to happen too. Next your gonna tell me that the nomads wiped out most of humanity? Keep to Vanilla guys.

The only things that doesn't change are the dead ones. Nothing more to say.
This user talks little to none english. If you find something wrong tell him.
Okay, wow. A lot of text has appeared. I'll try to give my IMO here on the matters that has been raised already and maybe some new once.
1. Bretonia need to loose or to win the war idea. I think it's wrong. The better idea is to do the following. GRN need to be given that habitable planet in the Tau system next to Leeds which will be their base of operation. GRN need to be driven away from the Leeds entirely and switch to clashes with Liberty and Bretonia forces in the Leeds and Tau systems. Leeds docking ring is to be destroyed by retreating GRN forces leaving that docking thing for small ships only. Reason: GRN forces got stretched on their rush to the Leeds and Liberty's strike could cut the fleet from it's supply lines, that's why GRN had to blow everything that they couldn't hold and return to their positions in Tau and Leeds edges switching tactics to fleet engagements across the Leeds system with Liberty and Bretonia joint forces.
Here, for having a good time, devs need to REALLY consider lowering amount of stationed capital ships around Bretonia and Tau systems. Those are not promoting any activity for sure, in fact they do remove it. So delete all those battleships around or replace their turret so they act like a regular bases firepower-wise. Use regular weapon platforms if you want to mark the region to be someone's stronghold - they are not doing much damage and can be destroyed.
This also applies to capital ship patrols that need to be replaced with regular fighter squadron patrols. This is important as well.
2. Return jumphole networking to it's 4.85 state. Seriously, navigating via Bretonia now is too frustrating, especially if you want some unlawfuls to give Bretonia some attention. Of cause this need to be accompanied by the Piracy reworks - at that moment factions like Molly, Corsairs, Gaians and others are nowhere to be seen, maybe some occasional guy here and there, this doesn't make up for an "active faction". In light of that I feel that Bretonia's raids to Gamma are useless mainly because there is no Corsairs. Golden Age of piracy returning might change things so Bretonia won't need to go further then Omega 5\3 in order to have it's pews with Corsairs.
This of cause involves such things as:
1. Nerfed scanner ranges back to 4k top.
2. Nerfed transports speeds, armors and firepower.
3. Return of the "Caps can't pirate" rules.
4. Getting rid of jump trading completely
5. Aforementioned jumphole networking rollback to 4.85
etc etc
3. Changing lore too much - NO here. Because lore of such factions as a whole House are to remain as close to original vanilla as possible. I know you want your faction to bend around the RP you're pushing but server-wise it's bad because new players will have a hard time digging their way through a lot of forum crap and that's too much (also wiki is still broken). So it's no for Bretonia's surrender for sure and Bretonia's dismembering into smaller houses. It have to remain as it used to be. This also applies to SYSTEM LAYOUT - someone in dev team thinks he's more smart then original Freelancer developers from Digital Anvil. No, you're not. So STOP ruining systems please.
4. BAF players need to have a little change in their mindsets since it's a long standing practice to hear a lot of complains about your behavior in game guys. It's strange to hear that you want to have more fights and raids while for real you have a long term practice of avoiding fights. Or the other way around going into fights with excessive gankforce. You kept applying this game style for long enough to screw away most of the people who wanted to play in Bretonia - this is the part of the problem as well. Of cause you can keep claiming it's not true but my opinion stands.
@Curios your idea in N1 is close to what we've been expecting in the future. You are right abotu N2, raiding Gamma is somehow wrong not to mention out of ZOI. Your N3 is exactly what most of bretonian community would like to maintain - like you've described it - as close to original vanilla as possible instead to ruin Bretonia and its role. Adaptation to new lore is not the problem as long as factions remain intact but the "surrender RP" is just too much unless if the devs would be happy Bretonia to consist of 1 system - New London.
About N4 - you are right. But it was not always like that during the golden rush in dublin and kusari war. People complain - yes if they have to repeat they same "Rp" everyday - log in, get someone on their tail instantly, get shot down, log off. Multiply this three times per day every week and here you end with people who are unhappy of being the victims and always waiting to be attacked by 10-15 before calling skype emergency and bringing 2-3 ppl to "Rp".
Most people just leave then or simply...don't fight at all. Examples can be many - being corsair raid in Cambridge or ultra grn raid in leeds at a nice GMT time...if you ask for assistance and 3 people answer, why would you bother? In time you see nothing new because this is repeating nearly every time and one day you get more people online, you win 1 battle and being crushed on forum for ganking. And the circle is complete and etc etc...
That is why, believe it or not, to be given Raid option will change this "long term practice of avoiding fights" - so instead to sit and wait to be raided you can go and raid as well. Why its so hard to understand? Raiding with RM/LN/GRN/KNF and even with corsairs was cool....I am sure Bret players would be happy to experience this as well from bret side with bret ships. At least so far they've always being asking "what we can raid, where we can go" and pointing the trade lanes and patroling is the obvious answer...
Bretonia must get a raid opportunity into Taus, indeed. Of cause if you want to raid there must be something to be raid. Now the traffic in the Taus is mostly reduced to occasional GRN ships transiting to leeds and back. Mostly because there appeared much better trade routes to go, rishiri for example (which is total retard since the original lore behind the gates in Hokkaido was twisted to make a room for that total waste of work (rishiri and that system with mining fields). Traffic between Kusari, Gallia and Bretonia must be going via Taus so there could always be something to raid for Bretonia, Kusari and Gallia side. Of cause the caps I was already mentioning that are standing there on every corner are not of a help - the region is a devmess.
I think a large issue here, in terms of Leeds raids at the very least, is simple.
The "good" people don't want to play the Bretonian side of the game.
I can understand why. I flew a Dunkirk for less than 48 hours, participated in 3 Leeds "raids," and after a trio of losses because of incompetence on the BAF side, sold my Kirk to an NPC Station. This can all be summed up very succinctly in one ingame comment, by an old BAF member, directed at my Reaver.
"BAF|Ens.R.Ree: you all the best of server, we mostly noobs"
All things considered, look at the most active BAF players, versus the most active GRN players.
On the GRN side, I see myself, Flash, Flo, Haste, Omicega, Dan, Titanbot, and a number of others. All of those players are very, very competent in their chosen ship classes. The GRN has some of the best Battleship captains on the server, some of the best snub pilots on the server, some of the best pilots in general on the server.
When it comes to the BAF, the only people I can honestly recall from memory as being very, very good at what they do are Thunderer, as well as one or two others. And by god, does Thunderer give the Gallics a hell of a time.
Unit cohesion is a major issue. When the GRN log, a very good portion of us are regularly in Teamspeak. We coordinate targets in group chat. We keep firing on one target, and once it's down, we shift targets. On the BAF side, from my experience, everyone just does their own thing. This problem is only exacerbated when the LNS come into play, as they're even less likely to follow orders from the BAF than the HMS indies are.
So, on one side, we have excellent PVPers with wonderful coordination via Teamspeak and good tactics, as well as the ability to log quickly and en masse.
On the other side, we have slow Skype chats, members who are tired of losing, capital pilots who either cannot or will not follow orders, and do not know how to use their ships.
If the Bretonian side wants to actually win fights, (and I hate to sound trollish,) they need to get good, they need to get coordination, and they need to get Teamspeak.
the improvement is in favor of both sides so why don't you organize things so they are interesting to each others? If GRN is winning the group fights with ease then try duels, dueling 1 v 1 is more satisfying even if you've lost.
