Those actually aren't bad specs Tena... Your GPU is the weakest link in the chain though, and you might want to look into adding a little more RAM soon.

But ye, I would also say it's a better idea to go ahead and just purchase a modern graphics card with fairly up-to-date specs. You'll most likely get better performance from that, than trying to make two older cards work together.

What's the "expenditure" range you're trying to stay in? Just a piece of advice, don't skimp on something like that too much, it will just end up costing you more money sooner. Better to just spend another $30-$40 on a GPU that will last you a few years longer, than to save that $30-$40 and have to upgrade your graphics card AGAIN in just another year.

Was definitely going to double up the RAM soon, that's probably the cheapest improvement.

I'm looking to eventually be able to run extreme performance demanding games (looking at you, star citizen), so that's the goal I'm aiming for with upgrades.

Well I finally bought upgrades for my machine today. Went from 4gb ram to 16gb, Replaced my recently failed 1tb disk drive with a 240gb solid state drive for my OS and a new 1tb disk drive for content, and upgraded from the gtx260 to a gtx 770.

All in all it ended up costing about 700$, but hopefully the improvement is worth it.

Just a tip for the future, Video cards mean nothing if your CPU is weak. Video card may be quick to render but if the processing power is weak then you lose a lot.

Cps should be fine,  it's an Intel i7 or i8,  2.6ghz,  quad core

still a bit low i think for when SC comes out, even for games like bf3/bf4 you might get about 30-40 fps with that cpu, and as far as i have read, SC is going to be hungry for rescources

Congratulations on your new GFX Card. You never said what resolution your running. Alot games can be run good in 1920x1080 with max settings 60FPS with a Nvidia 670 and 680 for alot less than a 770 and so there's no need for SLI. The 770 is future proofed alittle more.
