To cite one example, the Indigo Wolves. In general, a rather decent faction proposal. It was picked apart, then torn to shreds, while the original proposer grew very upset, as would I, if I had done the research he had to put together a faction.
The injustice is that, from looking at the Official factions ingame, and in the Status thread, one can create a faction that wouldn't pass. Without creating anything new, one could model a faction on what the old greats are doing, and not get in. They could, and have, joined the server, watched some official factions, and made a group. We tear them to sheds, why? Because we've got restrictions we're not holding ourselves to. As for where they are, they generally leave the forums, if not the community as a whole. We're running people out, after they mimic what we do.
Now let me ask, if you wanted to be accepted in a new place, how would you try to fit in?
Well, Unselie, argue as much as you want about abstract high ideals and quixotic/dredd fairness here. Using that as a reason to go turning tables in a radical way, that went way too far now, and quite frankly never goes good. Time is required for all things done. Also fiddling with player base on such level with only that in mind is a great risk, responsibility of which is too heavy for your shoulders there. So careless.
I will respect ALL of your feelings. I will respect ALL of you history. I will respect ALL of the work you put into your faction. And I will MOST CERTAINLY work to satisfy the standards.
But if anyone of you, who feel as a victem of Del's suggestion, DARES to raise the voice when I put on my request, I will just say:
Sorry, I don't care. You have proven to not be willing to fullfill the standards, that I am about to satisfy. See you, sir. Great RP btw.
Now this sentence stands as strong and unremovable as the opinion of those who fight any changes towards their own faction in this thread - those towards this sentence will allways be adressed.
One major problem with that... where are the standards posted?
Bit hard to see if you measure up or not when the tape measure is invisible.
Plus, if you want to see where that attitude lands you -> take a good look at sovietdiplomancy. No offense sovietdiplomancy, but your a good example of how not to try and fit in.

...?
Do explain. I am more than curious... I *thought* I had done a decent job... either in PMs or here, please direct me to where this is and what pieces... if I'm being a self-righteous ***hole, I'd really like to fix that...

Marauder I am with you on the standards thing it is very hard to qualify those standards at the moment, but not impossible.
Van Gotteshand: I agree with Marauder, I thank you for believing in this but that is not the way to show your support it will simply serve to alienate some members of the community, not what any aspiring faction needs.

He meant SovietDilpomacy, not Sovereign, if your post was in jest, I apologise, this thread could do with some light heartedness.
Saint Del is considered a holy healer of diseases of children, but also as a protector of cattle.

My apologies I figured it was clear I meant sovietdiplomancy when I shortened it to 'sov', it will be corrected.
' Wrote:No offence, but try to think about what I posted and why I posted it.
As far as I can see, the way of your response supported my statement.
I did think about it, you obviously didn't read, understand and then think about my reply, especially the first bit. If the standards people keep alluding to are posted then everyone can see for themselves if they or their faction(s) measure up and do something about it.
No visible standards mean theres going to be no standards.
I'll have to remember to keep things simple and not bother using metaphors.
My only problem is, that if the people want to keep their rights of the old times, I don't see them having a right to enforce the new ones on me or other community noobs. Thats all.
And even if you dont have the standards listed visibly, you have to admit that they were significantly raised.
Edit: And as you said Del, most of the people just dont seem to like the idea of reworking their proposal.
But as no one would spend time with a community that doesn't encourage fairness, every one should agree that it has to be maintained in a way. If not, feel free to tell me and you won't see me arguing ... or do anything else in here ever again. I promise!
