Oh, but it would. Look at the map again.

The removal of Eta would add the Sigmas as the main point of conflict, instead of Eta.

Lolfleets would also take 3 more system jumps to reach either Alpha or Gamma.

This would be a good thing.

Remove Eta.

We have feedback for such threads. If someone started to act like this (which I doubt since we have only two new memebers besides of opg remnants of who how I see you tend to hate) be nice and post it. As well as some screens of such behaviuor. It will be delt with. If you don't than keep your pointless flames for yourself. Thank you.

Like the conflict is being fought in eta at the moment. Ahh it was few times, then oc indie army wanted to reach gamma and ran into us at etna. Never succeeded to pass any further....

So now eta is more likely for events that fights. Oh and place for all of those MNS lolcaps too.

Well I guess it wouldn't hurt a lot if you would remove it by adding atleast one corsair base somewhere near sigmas. But I doubt something will really change.

Oh my, I can say that this is certainly my kind of thread, please allow me...

Well for starters, I am glad this thread has surfaced, this thread is now reflecting recent comments and talks on our standard GMG| Skype and as well as on our "Executives" Skype. The large underlying issue being the sudden turn the Sigmas have taken since the Diamond/Niobium run was removed after 4.84. Ahhhh those were the days heheh.

We've been trying to kick up some sporadic activity from time to time. Basicly almost every single encounter we have had since 4.84 has been contrived and purposely designed to lead to clashes as a way of staving boredom. With batches of quality RP'rs this goes fine for awhile but if maintained to frquently it loses the RP appeal as the PvP aspects of these gatherings begin taking center stage. The result is a roller coaster of activity with ups and downs. Currently we are on one of those downs (ESS was good for rallying some Indies to join them on a GMG experience but they are gone or reorganizing).

Now, we've delved into what can possibly be solutions to the past event we dubbed The Great Vanishing and these solutions can be found mirrored on this thread as well. Good news is that all this has been talked about greatly and steps to rectify it in 4.86 are either ready to be implemented or being worked on.

First off is trade routes. No matter how many times some factions can get together and agree that group A will meet group B at Location C so that we can carry out action D, it will never be able to create the kind of steady ingame activity that solid trade routes produce. Trade routes are the meat and bones of the majority of encounters in Disco, it provides an endless stream of RP opportunities and draws in players. Right now we don't exactly have that. Actually yes GMG itself has very good routes but what we lack is passersby. Something to draw out the unlawfuls so that my lawfuls can go in and patrol for something more then NPCs. Now this is one that has been worked on (from what I was informed) as many updates were made in our area of space and Kusari as well. One aspect that has been pushed for is our GMG guard system. It should be complete for next version. The part being pushed for that system is to include it in the economy of Sirius and provide buy and sell points for trade routes as we intend to have Sigma 59 generally open (albeit it takes some missions or good old fashioned bribery to come to GMG|'s home but that's how we greedy ones like it). If Okinawa is updated as intended then it will open the JG and allow us GMG| to haul out our goods from Okinawa and traverse through the Sigmas (Rheinland negotiations are positive and border with GMG may be open real soon) will increase opportunities for Sigma pirates.

Second is the consideration of an enemy base in GMG space. This is something I personally wanted as the only supposedly unlawful base is Yanagi. A base that GMG is fully aware of but sees Junkers as benign and just want the mess cleaned up so that both Helgoland and Yanagi can pack it up ad make room for gas mining. While this base is sometimes used by unlawful hispanics it's tenuous position has the Junkers regulating it's use more then a house Navy regulates their own bases. We need something else in our space. There is the old wrecked Kruger outpost sitting smack in the middle of the Southern Oxygen Fields. So far no plans were made by GMG, Rheinland nor the Junkers in salvaging this wrecked base. It's been sitting in there for nearly 200 yrs. I've proposed to a system modder that we get an enemy base to refit this instalation and add an exclusion zone around it to provide a little space from the explosive gases. Corsairs are the most likely and best choice for being the recipients of such a base as OC's can easily base off of Ruiz to launch against GMG but Corsairs have to come from Gamma. Now the Corsair factions may receive word from that system modder asking if such a base would be used. We hope the reply is an affirmative and Igiss approves the idea. While I can enjoy the idea that GMG has such control of the Sigmas that even a covert operation in an extremely hostile environment (oxygen field where base iwould be in the middle of) can't be pulled off without us knowing I do find it a wee bit unrealistic since none of the house were able to prevent covert unlawful bases from springing up in their space.

Lastly is the curse of the Eta system. Curse that system. I got a couple barrels of airplane fuel nearby and a match. I'd be more then happy to put that system to flame. It's the destroyer of the Sigmas. It may be said that what I just typed is an exageration but if you cleanup the melodrama and look at it objectively you may find the heavy hand of truth in it. I've owned this game since it's release and carry one of the orginal Freelancer copies out there. Lovely game when I bought it, never knew what kind of gem I was buying at the time I just felt like a space sim at the time. Well I've done the multiplayer Freelancer thing for awhile, back when Microsoft piloted the project, and one of the characeristics back then was the Hispanic war beng fought in the Sigmas right in front of the angry GMG who would intervene whenever possible. It was a three-way dance that was fairly common along the servers in those Vanilla days. In fact back then who didn't want to be either OC, Corsair or GMG? It's the memory that stems from playing the campaign. Those three used the strongest guns on the toughest fighters. Kraken, Skyblasts, Salamanca's all paired up with Codes on Sabres, Eagles, Titans respectively. Ahhhh those were the days. Well here is where Eta throws a wrench into it all.................. It takes the war away from the Sigmas where it belongs............... Now why I didnt make an Eta thread back when GMG| was first started was because of the "24/7 Snaffu in Sigma-13" as my former colleague Orin once put it. This was good. It was fun. We already had a war going on anyway as pirates fought on who would have the select pickings from the abundant traders streaming through. That's gone and we find ourselves with no war whatsoever (well except one that we initiate; see contrived encounters above). As a result I can't help but look upon that dot on the map that say Eta and glare. Damn you Eta, begone from here! But I know that Eta wouldn't be removed so the real push is to have traders streaming through again.

my 2 cents worth
:)

Edit add: I also want to say this on the side: someone mentioned that they may believe that Nuclear Device originate from GMG and the Sigmas. I'll let you know that it is incorrect. GMG is the source of Plutonium from their Planet Miura in Okinawa. There are some enterprises that make Nuclear Devices from it and others use it as the 2-4% additive for their MoX. H-fuel and Plutonium is our monopoly.
